Joey Yellen is a pro-style quarterback from Mission Viejo, California. Yellen began his college career at Arizona State and later played for Pitt.

Yellen, a former four-star quarterback from California’s Mission Viejo High School, signed up for Arizona State in 2019 and kept his redshirt.

As a senior in 2018, he had one of the best quarterback seasons ever, completing 227 of 351 passes for 3,516 yards and 27 touchdowns in 12 games.

He joined Pitt in 2020 to serve as a replacement for Kenny Pickett. As a redshirt rookie, he appeared in four games while throwing 35 of 78 passes for 402 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Along with 2019 co-signer Jayden Daniels, he was chosen to play in the illustrious Under Armor All-American Game.

When the University of Hawaii football team takes on fourth-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., quarterback Joey Yellen made his second straight start.

He played four games for Pitt in total, all in 2020, and had a 45% passing efficiency while totaling 402 yards and a touchdown against three interceptions.
