Sam Wilson’s journey began in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, proving to be one of Steve Rogers’ most trusted people. Not only did he earn a name in the US government and military, but he also carved out a place for himself in the Avengers. Anthony Mackie brings the role to life, crafting an image for the character with such esteem that it’s hard to see why the former Falcon shouldn’t hold the vibranium shield.

This, however, does not sit well with a few fans. Some think that Bucky Barnes, previously called Winter Soldier and now White Wolf, deserved more to represent red, white and blue than Sam Wilson.
Captain America: a question of representation
Many people have spoken out against awarding the shield to Sam Wilson, not because they find him unworthy, but because of the color of his skin. Captain America is not a symbol of who has known Steve Rogers longer, but rather who is fit to represent America. The shield is a symbol of hope and freedom, which could have been seen in Spider-Man: No Coming Home, when the Statue of Liberty was upgraded by having the shield in her hand.

Anthony Mackie represents this character and those who believe they can’t achieve the unthinkable just because of how they look. He stands to represent a symbol that all Americans deserve to take on such responsibility, regardless of their skin color. Some fans, however, seek to push their own ideals in the form of hateful and offensive language. Fans on Twitter and Tumblr went out of their way to present their negative opinions about it, even after the growth of the character shown in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, now named Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
The series very well answers all the questions someone might have about whether he deserved the shield or whether he was the right choice or not. Marvel and the MCU have proven to us perfectly that Sam Wilson is and deserves to be our new Captain America.

The Bucky Barnes Theory
James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes was a longtime friend and brainwashed enemy of Steve Rogers’ Captain America. Played by Sebastian Stan, Bucky was a former army officer who was later tortured into becoming the Winter Soldier, but was eventually able to overcome it all and break free from Hydra’s clutches after Steve killed him. saved.
Many fans believe that Bucky should have been the true successor to the Shield due to his relationship with the original Captain America. Being a childhood friend and protector for most of “Pre-Serum Steve” made Bucky the perfect candidate to be the next Captain America. Not only does Bucky know how to use the shield, he has experience with it as well.

However, the Winter Soldier has suffered far too much trauma to pick up a coat as big as this. Being an ex-assassin also proves to be a wall between him and the shield. Bucky was shown learning to live with his past and all the pain he caused in the world. His healing process would be hampered if he became Captain America, and he might not be able to do justice to the weight he carries with him.

Fans come out to support Sam Wilson
After seeing so much hate towards the character and the actor, fans have chosen to do their part by supporting both as much as they can. From defending the character to pointing out racism; fans were ready to prove why Sam Wilson is and deserves to be Captain America. Chris Evans also made sure fans know the scene from Avengers: Endgame was the right decision made by Steve and he knew what he was doing.
Fans across social media united in defense of their new Captain America and were ready to prove why. Tumblr gave blogs after blogs explaining why no one better could have held the shield. The show itself proves this by giving John Walker a chance, who ultimately fails due to the weight of responsibility.

All three characters, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes and John Walker are expected to return in future Marvel projects. Sam Wilson will next be seen in Captain America: The New World Order, and the last two in Love at first sight.
