Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 11 recap: Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor pose as marriage gurus
On September 15, 2022, Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 11 was released on Disney+ Hotstar. Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan joined the host on the couch. They recently played a father and son in the movie Juggjugg Jeeyo, and it’s safe to say that their “combustible” chemistry was felt on the Johar set as well.
Johar steps up to the plate by starting the evening with a short monologue about what he’s learned about himself on social media. His idea of himself as “Bollywood’s reproductive god” is then brought up in conversation with his other guests.
The official summary of the episode says:
VARUN DHAWAN AND ANIL KAPOOR BECOME CANDIDATES ON MARRIAGE, ROLE-PLAYING AND MORE. As the boys turn the floor on and off again, the chai de coupe is added to the coffee.

Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 11 Recap
Anil Kapoor was Karan’s first friend in Bollywood, and Varun Dhawan was ‘the first baby he kind of put into business,’ says ‘Coffee With Karan’ season 7 episode 11 host . From the start, the two guests get along and feed on each other’s energy. Kapoor praises Dhawan for his hard work on set, while Dhawan looks to Kapoor’s “positive attitude towards work” for ideas.
From there, Johar strikes up an honest conversation about marriage, cheating, and other topics in the same sentence as the duo’s most recent and debut project, Juggjugg Jeeyo. To answer the same question, Kapoor first uses his bubbly sense of humor, but then he sincerely says he “can’t stand it” (infidelity). As a quick follow-up, Dhawan questions the topic of cheating that the host brought up for this conversation. He does this by evoking the animator’s previous film, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
Episode 11 of Season 7 of “Coffee With Karan”
Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor sat on the couch for Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 11.
Then they talk about the “phenomenon of nepotism” and the trolling that ensues. Both actors give their own take on the story by staying true to their own work ethic. Dhawan’s counter-reply about how people are often misunderstood humanizes the host, much like Dhawan did for him after he broke up with his girlfriend. During this conversation, Kapoor recounts how he felt insecure about his own position compared to his colleague Jackie Shroff. Unlike Kapoor, Shroff was not from Bollywood, but he got his big break early in his career, while Kapoor played “bit” roles for a long time.
Varun Dhawan says he only feels “healthy competitive” with Alia Bhatt. When asked if he ever felt uncertain about competing with other male actors of his generation, Johar names a few and Dhawan says yes. He has a history with her, and he also sees her as a rising star of this era who is roughly on par with one of our greatest heroes. In the same conversation, he also says that when Johar didn’t call him for his latest productions, he wondered if he was “slipping in his game”.

In the quick-fire round, Varun Dhawan joked about giving Arjun Kapoor’s name for every question.
Now that it’s settled, the two start talking about their marriage while answering phone calls. All the few meaningful things they said before are forgotten in an instant as they are already talking about sex with the callers, and in a very lively way. After that comes the famous Rapid-Fire trick, which Dhawan wins by making a funny joke with Arjun Kapoor.
Finally, the Slam Zone is back with the phone game. This time, the age difference between Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan comes to the fore. As Dhawan receives calls from co-stars like Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani, Kapoor stands beside him heartbroken because no one called him back. He eventually gets a call from Fatima Sana Sheikh to make him feel better, but by then Dhawan had already won the round.
Season 7 Episode 11 of “Coffee With Karan”: Final Thoughts
Most of the time, Johar’s sofa is just an excuse to listen to Bollywood stars talk about sex without any filters. This episode examines the same crude practice, but takes it to the next level by adding cut tea to the mix. Talking about the nepotism, marriage, and infidelity that had been brought up before could have easily made the show look more complex and less controversial.
But as soon as the “marriage gurus” take their place, they start talking about sex again. Calling a veteran actor like Anil Kapoor to talk about his sexual habits is a waste of time, even if he doesn’t like being called a veteran actor. When the caller asks him a question, his first thought is to push the conversation away because he can’t tell someone he’s never encountered something like this.

The best thing about Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 11 was how well Dhawan and Kapoor got along.
Kapoor’s thoughts on Bollywood’s “golden years” could have easily sparked a debate about why the industry is doing so poorly at the box office right now. But the episode never even hints at such a profound idea. Instead, all three stars laugh it off, making the episode feel like a complete failure.
On the other hand, Varun Dhawan was kind of funny because he picked up funny jokes with Arjun Kapoor, who was not there. It was like a joke inside of which we were not aware. His strange way of saying the actor’s name stays with you even after the episode ends.
Karan Johar has called Dhawan an “audience delight”, and there are times when he has an undeniable charm. Some of the star’s responses to the previous conversation about feeling insecure in Bollywood and so on show that he can be both funny and humble. These answers attempt to break down her one-dimensional, perky personality. When things like this happen you remember how entrenched it was in Badlapur and October.
Finally, the ‘chai cut’ session didn’t fit the bill and seemed like an unnecessary addition to the show. It almost seems like the guests have internalized Koffee With Karan’s unique style, which he has developed over the years, and so they emulate him in the way they speak. What could have been a deep conversation that cleared up many misconceptions about the Indian film industry ends up heading in the same rough direction, with some nice answers and feedback from Dhawan.
