The last time we witnessed a The Green Lantern film, he dramatically went sideways. In fact, so much so that Ryan Reynolds to this day apologizes profusely for subjecting us to his superhero appearance in 2011. But even though the film crashed at the box office, the DC superhero still lives within the fandom. And now, after a considerable period of hiatus, the resurrection of the Green Lantern Corps may once again be on the horizon.

The Green Lantern Requires restart essential in DCEU
It is high time! The DC Extended Universe has all of its main characters in the sandbox. The roots of the universe have been firmly anchored by the contributions of Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa. And now that their respective superheroes are out there, perhaps it’s time to expand the DCEU and finally bring in the wider spectrum of the comic world.

In this newly imagined world dictated during the reign of David Zaslav at Warner Bros. Discovery, DC’s world won’t be a tunnel vision of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman playing with or against each other. The WBD leader’s ambitious approach will drastically change the entire DCEU narrative by focusing on a 10-year long-term plan, much like the existing MCU. And in such a broadly imagined world with multiple heroes and their interwoven narratives, what harm can a few extra additions do?

Glen Powell Could Become DCEU’s New Hal Jordan
Glen Powell, the Top Gun: Maverick The star has spent his fair share in the industry playing small, forgettable roles, even in big-budget films such as The dark knight rises (2012) and The Expendables 3 (2014). Shortly after, the 2016 historical drama, hidden numbers launched him into the orbit of fame while the 2018 Netflix romcom, Implement made him a crowd favourite. But it was only after the multiple awards and records Top Gun: Maverick that Glen Powell really started making a splash in the industry.

Now, with his widely acclaimed and beloved presence, Glen Powell could be the perfect candidate for the new Power Ring bearer. The rumour, which has been circulating for some time now, also claims that maverick the director, Joseph Kosinski, had been approached for the position of director for a Green Lantern 2 for over a decade now and can be asked to navigate the tricky waters of a character origin story for the new DCEU.
Given the director’s success with his recent blockbuster and the fact that he already has experience working with the Scream Queens actor, the duo could very soon embark on this new journey, hopefully successful, in the new integrated 10-year plan of WBD.
