Exploding in popularity with its first season, game of thrones had built high standards to uphold. But it soon became apparent to fans that the show was only good until they adapted the books, as the books ended before season 5 and the quality of the show dropped after that.

Season 8 of game of thrones was considered hard to watch by many fans due to many characters making shocking and unrealistic decisions. Some characters were also seen looking back on their development, such as Jaime Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen, much to the chagrin of many fans.
Game of Thrones season 8 – What happened to Daenerys at the end?
Along with Cersei and Jaime killed by a dozen bricks, Daenerys was seen burning down King’s Landing and was later killed by Jon Snow. In reaction to her death, Drogon burned the Iron Throne and flew away with her corpse.

Later in the show, Samwell Tarly was about to reveal the location of the dragon and his dead mother, only to be interrupted by Bronn. But thanks to the publication of the director’s commentary, we have finally been informed of their destination, it was towards Volantis.
Drogon and Dany go to Valyria
Since there’s nothing important to find for the dragon in Volantis, Valyria seems like the right place. It’s the birthplace of the Targaryens and the area with a lot of magic and mystery, maybe he wanted to take it back to where it all started or bring it back to life using Valyrian magic.

Additionally, Drogon could take Daenerys to Asshai in Shadowlands, which has been shrouded in mystery even in the books. The location is further east and is infamous for the Shadowbinders, who are considered the most sinister of all wizards.
Will she return in Jon Snow Spin off?
The author of the books, George RR Martin confirmed in June that a Jon Snow spin-off show was being produced with Kit Harington on board. Even though very little is revealed about the spinoff, including Kit Harington knowing nothing about it, it still generated a lot of hype.
Considering the ambiguous ending of Daenerys Targaryen’s body and the spin-off taking place after the events of game of throneswe might see Emilia Clarke return to the franchise, but not as Daenerys Targaryen, well not completely of course.

The world of ice and fire becomes more eerie and magical as we move east, hinting at magic and resurrections. Melisandre who came from Asshai was able to resurrect Jon Snow, maybe someone from Asshai will also resurrect Daenerys, but not as we expect.

Not all resurrections and magic work as intended, as in the case of Beric Dondarrion, who claimed to become less of himself after each awakening. Chances are Daenerys will return as the undead dragon queen of the Shadowlands.
