David Zaslav’s actions as the new CEO after the Warner Bros. and Discovery have been the subject of global controversy. This all goes back to the cancellation of bat girl which marked David Zaslav’s first step to changing DC’s future. While fans hoped he would be the angel of the DC Cinematic Universe, he has yet to do much to clean up the mess. On top of that, Zaslav also has to deal with the competition and comparison he faces all year from Marvel Studios.
While previously David Zaslav also announced that they were working on a long term 10 year plan for DC, fans want to see updates. Instead, all we see is a series of movie delays and reports from various sources indicating how desperately DCEU needs to get its Kevin Feige.

The Marvel contest for David Zaslav
It can be said as a universal truth that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the main reason we fans can discuss so many cinematic universes and franchises right now. This is mainly due to their positive approach, their absolute dedication and, above all, a visionary personality like Kevin Feige. Although DC also started following the same path as DCEU but again it didn’t work out. At this point, David Zaslav showed up and people were hoping he would do something, but the future still looks blurry for the House of Superman.
A top talent rep recently reported that Zaslav constantly has to deal with unfair competition with Marvel, which also makes the situation very difficult:
“Zaslav doesn’t know what he doesn’t know,” says one of the top talent reps. “It’s scary. And you’ll always be compared to Marvel. It’s unfair. When they were on trial, it worked. It’s the exact opposite at Warner. It’s rough all around. Who the hell would want that job ?”
It should be noted that Kevin Feige followed a uniform work path which can be cited as a reason for the success of MCU. While on the other hand, DC has been through repeated controversies and recently cancellations that have led to it being nothing more than a scattered mess.
Apparently the next Glow the film will also reboot the entire DC Universe. Although the screening test for Glow was impressive, but there’s no denying that DC needs to get everything back on track and work towards getting an ultimate Endgame for DCEU.

Can David Zaslav really improve the DC Universe?
Although the cancellation of bat girl raised many voices that David Zaslav didn’t care about the hard work of the people, much of the audience found hope in him. Many of them appreciated his 10-year vision. But they have to work on something uniform. At this point where Marvel is making plans for its Phase 6, WBD is still delaying plans and looking to reboot the universe with Glow.

The lack of a unified path is also discussed by another rep who explained how the MCU trumps DC:
“DC is so fragmented,” says a talent rep. “NOT A WORD [Abrams] had this one, Zack Snyder had that one, Todd Phillips had the other thing. And they are all such huge egos.
David Zaslav also has a heavier burden because of Zack Snyder’s pre-existing fiasco. Even though it has nothing to do with him, constant critics and critical minds target WBD for everything that happened with the Snyder Cut. Then there’s always the request to bring Henry Cavill back. Undoubtedly, they have taken on themselves loads of hate that need to be dealt with.
If WBD can’t find a Kevin Feige for DCEU who will help get the whole universe back on track, they can certainly continue with DeLuca and Abdy with that responsibility. At least it can give the movies a good direction.
