Okafor started his career playing for the youth teams of Swiss clubs FC Arisdorf and Football Club Basel.
After going through all the levels with Basel, he finally had the chance to make his professional debut on May 19, 2018, in the home match against FC Luzern. Then, on July 28, 2018, in a 1-1 away draw against Xamax in the second rounds of the 2018-19 season, he scored his first goal for Basel.
Okafor signed for Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg in 2020. He made 50 appearances for the team and scored 18 goals in a Red Bull shirt, and two of his dreams came in the UEFA Champions League.
The Swiss star scored the game’s only goal on December 8, 2021, as Salzburg beat Sevilla in the final UCL Champions League group stage encounter. With this victory, Salzburg qualified for the knockout stages and became the first Austrian team to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League. Again, in the 2022 UCL season, Okafor showed his skill by equalizing against Chelsea in the group stage game.
As for his international career, he won eight caps for Switzerland and scored two goals for the team. On November 15, 2021, he scored his first goal for Switzerland against Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier. Switzerland won and automatically qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Swiss striker will be a crucial player for the Swiss national team in the 2022 World Cup.
