Jobe Watson worked as a barista while residing in New York and met his girlfriend, Virginia Slaghekke, in 2016.
Slaghekke said they met at a cafe during an interview with the Herald Sun. She added, “He was having breakfast when he ran after me with a napkin that had his phone number on it. ‘Power on the napkin.’
Even though he was nervous while doing it, everything went perfectly. Slaghekke, on the other hand, knew very little about Watson’s fame and reputation in Australia and had no idea what the AFL was.
The couple began dating and once the Australian rules footballer’s suspension ended, they moved to Melbourne. Watson retired from the AFL in 2017 and currently manages properties, while Slaghekke studied clinical psychology and biomedical sciences.
