In a Perfect World, directed by Taika Waititi Thor: Ragnarok (2017) might have been one of the best films Marvel has ever made. A recent short story from the director of She-Hulk: Lawyer (2022-) had fans laughing as the director claimed the film was the “foreground” source of inspiration for She-Hulk.
Although the movie managed to give the character of Thor a comedic edge with complete disregard for comic book lore, fans soon grew weary of Taika Waititi’s antics that toed the line with the hilarious failure of Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

The director explained how the currently running series She-Hulk was directly inspired by Taika Waititi Thor: Ragnarok. Although Ragnarok dominated the box office while in theaters many people eventually found themselves tired of Thor and Taika Waititi’s comic relief antics that were borderline cringe-worthy.
Anu Valia spoke about his inspiration for She-Hulk on the friends from work podcast:
“And it’s funny because as a fan, you too…you want to do a favor for the fans, but you also want to create something new and not come from a place of fear…Just from a place of fear. story… in a truthful and funny way. I feel like I’m really… the comedic tone, balancing that and the emotional crux of the show, Jessica and Kat laid such groundwork that I just but I know personally, I was looking for, I feel like everyone feels that, I was looking for what Taika Waititi did with Thor: Ragnaro.
She continued
“Like, he balanced that so well. I think that was maybe, out of the Marvel movies, what was most important to me… Even the technical thing like improvising with a CGI character, that kind of stuff. So personally, this film was very close to my heart. But I can’t say I created the tone or anything, but it was kind of like building.
Fans were left laughing as the majority of fans considered Ragnarok be the downfall of Thor franchise. Sure, Thor: The Dark World (2013) was one of the worst-received MCU films, Thor: Ragnarok brought the comedic character of Thor and a scathing humor that people didn’t like.
Fans reacted by trolling Taika Waititi Thor: Ragnarok
Fans quickly took to Twitter to fight the sequels as people rushed to defend Thor: Ragnarok while many attacked the film addressing the disregard for character arcs, a weak Hela who was killed too easily, and the odd balance between comic relief and a serious tone for the film.

No wonder it’s trash

guess what? There’s no comedy or emotion in this show

I hope #TaikaWaititi do not lead another #MCU film. Too much comedy in Ragnarok and Love and Thunder was one of the worst movies. He completely ruined the character of Thor. Shame what he did.

That’s why it failed 🙄 , they should have learned from their mistakes. By the way Thor is better

Ragnarok’s balance was definitely skewed. The comedy/joke undermined all the drama and emotional weight of the movie.

While slaying Cate Blanchett’s Hela, the film managed to unbalance the tone of the film. The film also created a ruckus by bringing Surtur seemingly out of nowhere with Hela powerless to stop him. Fenrir’s character was also slaughtered as a 1v1 fight between Hulk and him ensued. Although the film managed to turn in a box office profit, the film marked the end of a serious Thor and Loki and brought in a comically taken-for-granted Thor.
