Fantastic Four Reboot Gets New Update From Kevin Feige & Director Matt Shakman, Almost Confirms MCU Is Done With Big Names After Colossal Phase 4 Failure

The highly anticipated introduction to Marvel’s First Family, The Fantastic Fourin the MCU hasn’t given any major news at D23 Expo 2022, but it’s been reported that the writers are already hard at work on a script for The Fantastic Four. Screenwriters Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer have been officially named as Marvel Studios’ option for the Phase 6 launch franchise.

Matt Shankman (Wanda Vision), who was in the audience at D23 Expo when Kevin Feige tapped him to confirm him as the film’s director, obviously came after Kaplan and Springer.

MCU Fantastic Four is not an origin story

The Fantastic Four, which was produced in three films at 20th Century Fox before being acquired by Disney, will not be another origin story, according to Kevin Feige. He declares:

“A lot of people know that origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How can we take that and bring something they haven’t seen before?”

The Fantastic Four will be released on November 8, 2024 and kick off the Marvel Phase 6 storytelling. Although no casting has been announced yet, online speculation is rife. In May Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Jean Krasinski played an alternate universe version of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, though it’s unclear if he will reprise the role.

How can Fantastic Four change the MCU?

The super-team was created in 1961 by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Jack Kirby, and its members included Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and the tortured Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Here is the formula for success of the Fantastic Four: The Fantastic Four are not a group of superheroes. It’s a family. Reed Richards and Sue Storm were engaged in Fantastic Four long before they were struck by cosmic rays and transformed into Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, respectively. Sue’s younger brother is Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch. Benjamin Grimm, aka the Blue-Eyed Ever-Lovers, isn’t legally a member of the Storm family, but he is Reed’s best friend, and everyone treats him like he’s part of the family.

The Fantastic Four, like most families, don’t always get along. They argue. They disagree. They irritate each other. Johnny and Ben act like brothers, and their bond is marked by pranks, disagreements, and healthy sibling rivalry. Reed and Sue love each other, but their marriage is far from perfect.

Plus, their classic comic book villains like Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, and Galactus might be a treat for MCU fans. Plus, we soon have Kang’s connection to Reed Richards’ story arc in the MCU.

The most obvious thing that sets MCUs apart The Fantastic Four it’s that he’s part of the MCU. On the big screen, audiences have never seen the superhero team interact with other significant Marvel characters. The involvement of well-known MCU characters in the film would help make it abundantly clear that, unlike previous films, these characters are inextricably linked to other Marvel films.
