The DC franchise seems to have a lot of things spilled on its plate including canceled projects tarnishing the studio’s reputation and controversies following certain actors, to name a few. And with everyone claiming that DC is “in shambles”, that certainly doesn’t help either. But luckily for the franchise, James Gunn turns out to be their savior.
Even though bat girl has been cancelled, Gunn’s promising work regarding the second season of Peacemaker restored the balance among the fans. He even reassured fans by hinting that filming for season 2 would soon take place in a few months.
Yet another project that Gunn currently has in the works is that of The Suicide Squad. And while there’s no meaningful timeline the filmmaker has given us, he still seems to be exploring his options when it comes to aspects of the film. However, there had been various rumors about the film, but it seems that Gunn was quick and snappy in denying them.

James Gunn clears up rumors that point to Will Smith’s return to The Suicide Squad
With an array of rumors and speculation spiraling across Twitter about The Suicide Squadthe future of DCEU, James Gunn has decided to end them.
Pop culture commentator Mikey Sutton had spoken about DCU’s future with the pressure that Warner Bros. Discovery exercised on the first, with regard to The Suicide Squad. Apparently, the latter had pushed DC for a third part of the film, with Will Smith playing the character of Deadshot.

And recently, the same thing resurfaced on Twitter after a random user recirculated Sutton’s claim. It was also rumored that Ayer would be “the favorite to lead it.”
“Now Mikey Sutton says WBD wants a Suicide Squad 3 with Will Smith in the lead, but they don’t want him to follow James Gunn’s version. He said Ayer was the favorite to direct him.”
Gunn put that rumor to rest in a crystal-clear response to a question on the same topic. When someone asked him if this statement was true or not, he simply replied with “it’s not” succinctly.

So what is the fate of The Suicide Squad will be?
Currently, the writer-director behind The Suicide Squad explained very clearly what all the projects he has undertaken and where he will focus in the present.
Not only is there no concrete evidence that a third movie will be in the works anytime soon, but Gunn himself isn’t sure if the next one suicide squad the film will be entirely based on the original team.
For now, he has done his part by making it clear that there may not be suicide squad threequel for the foreseeable future, but it certainly promised DC fans a new season of Peacemaker. And if there’s one thing Gunn is sure of, it’s keeping his word to his fans.
