DC’s Nikolas Draper-Ivey, comic book series co-writer and artist Static: Dakota Shadowsassured fans the Static shock the film was not harmed by the Warner Bros. merger. Discovery.
It’s an uncertain time for DC Films. Following the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery, the group led by Leslie Grace bat girl was quickly canceled by the studio which apparently did not believe the film’s box office performance would outweigh any benefits it might offer as a tax cut.
As fans worried about the future of the Static shock film produced by Michael B. Jordan following the bat girl cancellation, Draper-Ivey suggested there was no cause for alarm about the film’s status at the studio.
While DC projects such as wonder twinsJJ Abrams’ Constantine series, and Batman: Crusader Caped have suffered since the Warner Bros. merger. Discovery, Nikolas Draper-Ivey suggested all was well with Static shock.
The film’s future may well hinge on whether DC Films continues its plans for Michael B. Jordan Superman film centered on Earth-23’s Superman, Calvin Ellis. If Warner Bros. Discovery is burning that particular bridge with Jordan, he may be less inclined to pursue development of Static shock.
However, Nikolas Draper-Ivey told fans not to worry and to be “patient”, implying Static shock is still in the works at DC Films.
Draper-Ivey declined to provide too many details about the future of Static shock, although he seems confident, there is no need to panic. If this claim holds up or if Static shock will eventually join DC’s many abandoned projects will likely be revealed once Warner Bros. Discovery will have confirmed details of their new plan for their DC properties.
