Mahershala Ali’s upcoming Blade film with Marvel Studios lost director Bassam Tariq two months before production began.
Bassam Tariq had been hired by Marvel to lead the project in mid-2021. Marvel said in a statement that it was no longer involved with the project due to changes in the production schedule:
“Due to ongoing changes to our production schedule, Bassam is no longer advancing as director of Blade but will remain executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he has done to bring Blade where it is.
In his own statement, Bassam Tariq said he was looking forward to seeing what the new director would do with the film:
“It was an honor to work with the amazing people at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Can’t wait to see where the next director takes the movie.
