While the DC Extended Universe movie, Aquaman, was a smash hit, the crowd reception of Amber Heard’s role in the film as Princess Mera was negative. His game was critically dissected after Aquamantheatrical release. Additionally, following the drama of the publicly televised libel trial against her former husband, Johnny Depp, the sudden global fame she gained after moving to DC soured after the verdict found her guilty of several charges of defamation.

As a result, the jury had asked Amber Heard to pay Johnny Depp $10.35 million in damages, which took a huge hit to his net worth. Additionally, Heard had no future plans to pay the charges brought by the court, and reports eventually surfaced of the actress filing for bankruptcy. Recently, however, fans are looking back at the retrospective career high of the London Fields actress and pretend that Aquaman alone earned more at the box office than any of Johnny Depp’s films. Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp The drama has been going on since June
The two actors who have been passionately involved in a reputation-smearing war since 2018 still haven’t given up on their efforts. It started with the Washington Post opinion piece in which Amber Heard claimed to be a survivor of domestic violence. Although no names were mentioned, the allegation caused Johnny Depp’s carefully curated career to fall like a precariously placed house of cards.

The eventual libel case filed by Depp against The Sun and the Fairfax libel suit were each monumental in their own right, one finding Depp guilty of being an abuser, and the other more public lawsuit stating that Heard had defamed his ex-spouse. At present, the public awaits the start of the second round of the trial which begins following Heard’s appeal in court regarding the June 1 verdict. Whether that will redeem its reputation or add fuel to the fire remains to be seen.
