Early life
Coyle was born on June 15, 1985 in the city of Derry, Northern Ireland to parents Lillian and Niall Coyle. When she was just two years old, her parents realized her gift for singing when they heard her perform “Saturday Night at the Movies” by The Drifters. Although she was not engaged in her schoolwork, Coyle did well academically. She made a demo CD, which she sent to Louis Walsh and The Late Late Show for review. Covers of the songs “Fields of Gold”, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, and “Love Is”, as well as the aria “Summertime”, were included on the CD.

2001: Pop stars
In 2001, when Coyle was still a student at Thornhill College, he tried out for the Irish adaptation of the talent competition reality show Popstars. One of the judges on that show was Louis Walsh. It was eventually discovered that she had lied about her age in order to get into Group Six, but not before she had already earned a place in the group. 2002–2009: Girls Aloud
Walsh persuaded Coyle to take part in Popstars: The Rivals, which is the second UK series in the Popstars franchise to air internationally. The aim of the competition was to choose a group of boys and a group of women, each consisting of five members, who would then face off in “a battle of the sexes” to see who could claim the top spot on the UK Singles Chart during the holiday season. Thousands and thousands of hopefuls showed up at auditions spread across the UK in the hope that they would be chosen. The three judges, Geri Halliwell, Pete Waterman and Walsh, each selected ten boys and ten girls to compete in the final round. After that, these finalists took the stage and participated in the weekly live performances that took place on Saturday evenings (alternating weekly between girls and boys). After finishing her performance of “Walsh told her her ‘performance of the night’ was ‘Fields of Gold,’ which she had just performed. Coyle had a cancer scare when she detected a breast tumor when she was 17.
Coyle moved all of her possessions from Northern Ireland to Los Angeles, California in 2006. This led to her shuttling between the United States and the United Kingdom for her efforts with Girls Aloud and as a solo artist. While living in Los Angeles, Coyle opened an Irish bar and restaurant in Sunset Beach, California, named Nadine’s Irish Mist in 2008 as a family business, which would allow family members to live near her and help her run the business. According to the 2013 Sunday Times Rich List, his estimated worth was £6 million at the time.
