Andor star Diego Luna has debunked a rumor regarding an alternate ending for Snape One.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is widely considered one of the best films in the franchise since the original trilogy. This is partly due to the performances of the actors, including Diego Luna as Cassian Andor. Another part of the film’s memorability involves the big climactic battle on Scarif, in which every major character dies in battle as the Death Star blueprints are recovered.
Some have speculated that multiple purposes for A thug were filmed, including a storyline in which Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor survived Scarif’s explosion and lived on for another day. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. He revealed in a Vanity Fair video:
“So that’s basically why I was so happy to take on this role and so excited to be a part of this universe, because I thought it was so bold and so interesting and so unique to to have an ending like that. And I remember people saying that we shot different endings and, to be clear, the day I was offered this role, I knew that was it.
It was a movie and I knew what the ending was going to be. And that’s one of the things that got me most excited, you know, that Star Wars was going to do that, was going to show what sacrifice means, and was going to go for it.
With RogueOne, you can’t get a more definitive fate than having every one of your characters killed at the end. Part of what makes his standalone nature so strong is that exact fact, which is why the only way to bring any of these characters back would be through a prequel series like Andor. Fortunately, Diego Luna is quite happy to be back in the star wars universe through its own series.
Here’s the synopsis for Diego Luna’s Rogue One spin-off series, Andor:
“The ‘Andor’ series will explore a new perspective on the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series tells the story of the budding rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets got involved It is a time filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
