31 Days of Horror: 6 of Saw’s most brutal traps

Day two of the 31 Days of Horror series brings us to a relatively modern horror franchise, especially compared to the likes of Friday 13 and freddie. The Seen The franchise was a staple every October in cinemas for several years and arguably hit its peak long before it ended, but one thing it always managed to do was bring the most brutal trappings. and the most gruesome to torture its participants. Here we look at six of the worst…

Reverse bear trap

traps
Amanda in the Reverse Bear Trap.

A recurring trap throughout the series, the Reverse Bear Trap is nearly as iconic as Billy the Puppet compared to the franchise. First seen in the first movie when we’re introduced to Amanda, the Reverse Bear Trap does exactly what it sounds like, instead of closing on a victim it opens when the timer runs out, separating the victim’s skull if it didn’t escape on time. It took a while and a few false exits for the audience to see the final seconds of this trap, with Amanda and Hoffman escaping, but the same couldn’t be said for Jill, who found herself in the trap after having tried to use it. to kill Hoffman.

The shelf

traps
It’s hard to imagine the pain…

Saw III debuted arguably one of the franchise’s most brutal and bloody traps, featuring the drunk driver who killed Jeff’s child – who himself is stuck in one of Jigsaw’s games – trapped in a device that has each of its limbs secured. With this game placing the drunk driver’s life entirely in Jeff’s hands, it’s up to Jeff to forgive the man who killed his child or he’ll end up dead. Few people could do that in a normal setting, let alone when watching the person responsible for your child’s death have their arms, legs and possibly head twisted beyond the breaking point of bone and the skin.

Razor Wire Maze

traps
Psychologically brutal as well as physically.

Seen after the game has been played, it is one of the first traps shown in the series as a way to drive home the psychotic thought process that Jigsaw has had all along. Seen. Intentionally crawling through a maze filled with glass and razor wire seems pretty hellish and unknowingly you’re up against a timer that will permanently trap you there if you don’t escape.

The classroom

traps
Worst awakening ever…

One of the first traps we saw that seemed impossible to take a closer look at, but a man wakes up in a classroom, surrounded by desks and chairs, in front of him is a bomb and a television, which ends up ask him to pull the chains scattered all over his body to allow him to escape. He does better than you expected, feverishly ending up trying to pull his stomach up to pull the one out of his jaw (is that even possible?) and his eyes focusing on the rapidly diminishing timer. Unfortunately, time is running out, and in truth Seen style, we see the consequences later.

The Bloody Sacrifice

traps
Put your hand in the hole…

Featured in V-saw, the blood sacrifice trap could have been one of the easiest for victims to beat if they had followed the rules and clues left for them at the start of their game. If they did, they would only need two pints of blood from each person, which is a lot, but still enough to survive. Instead of working together through the previous games, they instead believe that each game requires the death of one, so when they end up at the end game, there are only two, making two pints each a five a lot. more dangerous, at least first.

The glass coffin

traps
The old switcheroo…

In one of the many twists in the Saw franchise, Peter Strahm ends up going after apprentice Jigsaw Mark Hoffman, whose cover as a law-abiding cop has long since been blown. Thinking he framed him, Strahm decides not to finish the recording and turns it off early, starting a fight with Hoffman and throwing him into the glass-filled coffin. Heaping insults at him after closing the door, Strahm finally listens to the end of the recording, realizing his mistake and having to see the man he had chased for so long safely disappear as the walls of the room reveal themselves. to be the real trap, closing and crushing Strahm slowly and in too much gory detail.

There are far more than the six pitfalls mentioned here throughout the Seen franchise, and certainly enough to fill this list with many more entries. What other traps would you have included?
