Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is only a few days away from hitting the big screens. The film is going to be a very emotional journey into the MCU. It has to deal with many issues such as the unfortunate loss of Chadwick Boseman to the introduction of one of comics’ greatest villains, Namor. According to director Ryan Coogler, integrating Namor into the film’s script is one of the most difficult tasks for him.
Namor, the Submariner is one of the most iconic comic book characters that will be involved in the MCU from now on. The Underwater Sovereign has already undergone many transformations for its inclusion in black panther 2. The director revealed in an interview that these changes were made because they wanted to give him a unique story instead of pushing the character hard in the film.

From teasers and promos, as far as we’ve seen, Namor’s story has changed a lot in the live-action world. Unlike the character’s comic book origins which were based on Atlantis, this story is based on the ancient Mayan civilization of Talocan. This change adds a layer of authenticity to the story of the submariner played by Tenoch Huerta.
In the 2-Esque Avatar underwater scenes seen in clips released from the film, the homage to cultural heritage can be spotted very clearly. But the process as described by the film’s director Ryan Coogler was not easy. The Black Panther The director gave an interview to IndiaMarvel where he described the challenges he faced in showing the submariner.
The director claimed that the Submariner’s transition from the pages of the comics to the settings of the MCU was equally fun and challenging to pull off.
“The process of incorporating Namor into our Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie was a really fun process but it was also very tedious.”
Ryan Coogler further stated that he and his co-writer want Namor’s inclusion process to go smoothly. They didn’t want to forcefully incorporate it into the film’s narrative and instead dwell on a more realistic approach.
“We didn’t want to introduce the Namor comic into our world. We wanted to do everything with the intention of making the best Black Panther movie possible. You know what I mean and so yeah, we had to find a way to use the same tactics we used to make Wakanda. We had to use those same tactics, you know, cultural respect, great attention to detail, intensive research, and a heavy reliance on cultural consultants to bring Namor and through him, Talocan to life in our film.
Additionally, he also explained how James Wan brought Atlantis into DC’s Aquaman and other directors have done their part to bring Atlantis to life in their projects. Much like them, he wanted to take his own more unique approach to film. He wanted to represent it while respecting the existing culture.

Based on the beautiful visuals and charismatic cinematic moments received from the film, it is expected that the underwater kingdom of Talocan will be a visual treat for audiences. Beyond that, early reviews are already showing that the makers may have hit the nail on the head with this MCU movie.
black panther 2 early reviews are overwhelmingly positive
With less than a week left until the film’s release, black panther 2 already stands in a very favorable position with tons of good reviews on its sleeve. After the long line of disappointing Marvel projects, this movie seemingly ends that streak.

The reviews this film has received are overwhelmingly positive, with many even citing the film as the best undertaking in Phase 4 of the MCU. His style of dealing with Wakanda’s ruler T’Challa’s grief over the conflict with the Undersea Kingdom would all be very well written.
The film starring Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman and many others also shows very good performances. Early reviews claim the film looks great as well as a mature project from the house of Marvel. The tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman is very intimate. Now, it’ll be hitting theaters very soon if the film can truly prove to be a powerful conclusion to the MCU’s Phase 4.
