Jason Taylor, Mason’s father, is a retired football player who played as an outside linebacker and defensive end for the Miami Dolphins for most of his NFL career.
Jason played for the Dolphins, Washington Redskins and New York Jets during his 15 year career. He played college football for the University of Akron Akron Zips before being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft (number 13 overall).
After retiring in 2011, the elder Taylor began his coaching career. He worked as the defensive coordinator for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team before joining the Miami Hurricanes as a defensive analyst in 2022.
