DC Studios’ James Gunn Tells Fans About DCU’s Focus’

DC Studios’ James Gunn addressed fans on Sunday and made his first statement regarding the #SaveLegendsofTomorrow and #ReleasetheAyerCut campaigns that have been making the rounds on Twitter.

“I opened Twitter at the end of a long creative weekend to see the many tweets about #SaveLegendsofTomorrow & #ReleaseTheAyerCut & fan support for other DC projects over the years. The majority of these requests were enthusiastic and respectful,” Gunn said.

Gunn decided to speak directly to fans, which previous diets had not done. Gunn added, “As the new (and first-ever) CEOs of DC Studios, Peter and I feel it’s important that we recognize you, the fans, and let you know that we hear your different desires for the ways forward for DC.”
“Although our ability to interact on Twitter has been reduced due to the workload of our new positions, we are listening and open to anything as we embark on this journey, and will continue to do so over the next few years. years,” Gunn said. The kicker is that Gunn has given fans a hint of what he and Peter Safran will be up to. “But all of our initial focus is on the upcoming story, shaping the new DCU, and telling the greatest story ever told across multiple movies, TV shows, and animated projects.”

Gunn invited all the different DC fans to the new DCU and ended his statement on a cliffhanger. Gunn added, “We invite all DC fandoms from across the multiverse – and everyone too – to this new universe. We can’t wait to reveal more.

Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran have signed on to lead its new DC Studios division, focusing on the overall creative direction of the DC Universe across film, television and animation.

Gunn and Peter Safran have signed a four-year deal to run DC Studios, with the deal making the former exclusive to Warner Bros. Discovery. This means that Gunn will not be able to work with Marvel Studios until his tenure at DC Studios ends. His latest Marvel project at the moment is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3which is currently set to hit theaters in May 2023.

Recently, Gunn revealed that Marvel’s Kevin Feige was the first person he told about his role at DC Studios. “Not only do I love Kevin, but he was the 1st person I spoke to after I made the deal with DC (John Cena was 2nd). Contrary to popular belief, one dollar less for Marvel doesn’t isn’t an extra dollar for DC. DC and Marvel have a common goal to keep the theatrical experience vibrant and alive,” Gunn said. wrote on his official Twitter page.

Prior to his hire as co-director of DC Studios, Gunn wrote and directed The Suicide Squad and developed its spin-off series Peacemaker for the WanerMedia HBO Max streaming service. Peacemaker has already been renewed for a second season, with filming set to begin next year, but Gunn is also working on a top-secret DC Comics movie.

Gunn is expected to focus on the creative direction of the DC Universe while Peter Safran will handle business and production. They will report directly to the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, and will collaborate with co-directors from Warner Bros. Film Group, Michael DeLuca and Pam Abdy.
