Whereas celestial fall was early in its production days, rumors found a swirl indicating that Sean Connery was set to make a cameo appearance in the twenty-third James Bond film. Apparently the idea was for Connery to play Kincade – the gardener at Skyfall Lodge.

According to early drafts of the script, Skyfall Lodge was supposed to be the retirement home for 00 agents. The residence would be attacked by Silva played by Javier Bardem, and Connery would team up with Daniel Craig to battle the villain. Well, as we know now, that didn’t happen.

When the idea was scrapped, Kincade’s entire character was rewritten to fit the new storyline, and the retirement home plot was simultaneously scrapped. In a 2012 interview with the Huffington Post, director Sam Mendes said that while there had been talk of Connery returning, it was scrapped because the actor wouldn’t be interested in playing a different character. after reigning as 007.

There was a specific discussion about [Connery playing Kincade] well, very soon. But I think it’s problematic. Because, for me, it becomes too much… it would take you out of the film. Connery is Bond, and he won’t be returning as another character. It’s as if he were there. So, it was a very brief flirtation with that thought, but that was never going to happen, because I thought it would distract.

Connery retired from acting in 2006 after The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Since then, he has even refused to return for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull In 2008, celestial fall the producers apparently didn’t even approach him, fearing he would be turned down.

It seems like a positive thing because Mendes is right, it would have been distracting and confusing for fans. Fans are unlikely to want to see Connery play anything more in a James Bond film than the spy himself.

The original 007 actor left such a deep mark on the industry that even after his death, fans still haven’t let go. The success of the James Bond franchise is hugely due to Connery. After he finished playing Bond, the bar was set so high that the actors who came after him had to give their best and then some to live up to the expectations set by Connery.

My name is Bond, James Bond.” Connery will always be associated with this quote, no matter how many other actors play James Bond.
