James Gunn and Peter Safran being crowned as co-CEOs of DC Studios naturally means a lot of impending changes are going to take place in the franchise in no time. Even Dwayne Johnson dropped some pretty much the same Easter eggs while promoting his movie, black adamas he teased fans by claiming the hierarchy of the franchise was about to change and how “something huge” was coming.
And he was right about the first part, as an insider recently revealed that the two new faces are going to have to earn the approval of other filmmakers and creators before embarking on projects and ideas. So, there you have the hierarchy change.
Regarding the “something huge,” James Gunn seems to have confirmed this as well, as he recently announced that the DC Universe will be expanding into what will apparently be a whole new universe with various new movies and shows on the way. However, associated with this there is also a rather unfortunate piece of information, as the filmmaker also seems to have hinted at the Suicide Squad Ayer Cup won’t see the light of day after all.
James Gunn is apparently asking fans to switch from The Ayer Cup
Various fans across the DC fandom have tweeted about wanting the franchise to restore the Arrowverse by bringing back the sci-fi show, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which was canceled after running for seven seasons. And at the same time, people are dying to see David Ayer’s version of the 2016 film, suicide squada.k.a, The Ayer Cup. And James Gunn finally addressed the same thing.
After what must have been a hectic week for DC’s two new co-CEOs, Gunn hopped on Twitter to update fans on everything that’s going on and to let them know that their wishes to see certain projects didn’t go through. unnoticed.

“I opened Twitter at the end of a long creative weekend to see the many tweets to #SaveLegendsofTomorrow & #ReleaseTheAyerCut and fan support for other DC projects over the years. The majority of these requests were enthusiastic and respectful. »
Although Gunn mentioned that the opinions and wishes of fans are well heard, the franchise will now focus entirely on introducing various new stories and characters through new projects. So at first sight, The Ayer Cup probably doesn’t stand a chance.
James Gunn seems to have something big and exciting in store for DC fans
Chances of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad hitting the big screens seems even less now that Gunn has clarified how DC is invested in all of its upcoming projects.
However, this does not necessarily mean a bad thing, for the Peacemaker the director simultaneously hinted at DCU’s expansion into an even bigger universe by saying fans will soon witness “the greatest story ever told” through several films and shows.
The guardians of the galaxy director pointed out that although the “workload of their new positions” prevents them from interacting with the fans in a consistent way, they are always very aware of their wishes.
“We are listening and open to anything as we embark on this journey, and will continue to do so over the next few years.”
“But our entire initial focus is on the story ahead, shaping the new DCU, and telling the greatest story ever told across multiple movies, TV shows, and animated projects.
We invite all DC fandoms from across the multiverse – and everyone else too – into this new universe. We can’t wait to reveal more.
Yet another cliffhanger! But it would certainly be worth the wait, considering Henry Cavill man of steel 2 it is already said to be progressing with various new projects like Peacemaker season 2 and the flash set to release in the coming year.
