Scott McTominay was born Scott Francis McTominay to his parents, father Frank and mother Julie McTominay.
The Scottish midfielder who plays for Manchester United in the Premier League was raised by his parents in Lancaster, England where he was born and raised. It’s pretty simple, both in the interview he gave and in the game he played, that his parents continue to be incredibly supportive of him.
Although Mctominay was born on English soil, he draws his Scottish descent from his parents and family, who were based in Scotland before moving to England.
Moreover, when he had the opportunity to play for the English national team or the Scottish national team, his father, Frank, requested that he play for the Scottish national team since it was the country of where his ancestors came from.
After beginning his time at the club’s training center in Preston when he was just five years old, McTominay quickly became a favorite in Manchester United’s youth academy program and eventually signed a contract.
Sir Alex Ferguson, his father figure, raised and cared for him as if he were one of his children. It was reported that McTominay’s mother Julie had a close connection to Ferguson, paving the way for Scott’s career with the club.
In an interview with the DailyMail, Manchester United player Scott McTominay said his parents came to live with him as he recovered from injury in 2020. They stayed with him for a total of three months.
“They made sure I was eating all the right foods, which I do anyway, by checking to see if there’s anything you need,” he said.
The 25-year-old has suffered a knee injury which could sideline him for an extended period. He spoke of the emotional strain a blow of this magnitude can have on a young footballer, as well as the importance of the support of family and friends in difficult times.
