Rashod’s journey to stardom began when he was a proper freshman at Minnesota, Bateman started out as a wide receiver and set freshman records for the Golden Gophers with 51 grabs, 704 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
It was the start of Rashod’s rise to greatness after receiving 57 passes for a second-best 1,170 yards and 11 touchdowns, Bateman was named a Fred Biletnikoff Award semifinalist, first-team All-Big Ten and catcher Richter-Howard. of the year.
Sports Illustrated, USA Today and Associated Press all selected Bateman for their second team All-Americans, while they selected him for their third team.
Due to the Big Ten’s decision to give up football during the COVID-19 outbreak, Bateman declared on August 4, 2020 that he would forfeit his 2020 season. The Big Ten would later change its mind and Bateman will join the team again for the shortened season.
Bateman made a comeback in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but left with a foot injury in the second quarter. On November 3, 2022, it was revealed that Bateman would undergo foot surgery, ending his season.
