The film was the first romantic comedy that the Israeli-American actress had taken on, but despite her lack of experience when it came to the genre, thanks to her commendable acting skills, she played her role perfectly and didn’t needed little or no help the entire time. Ashton Kutcher himself emphasized the same when acknowledging her acting talent and merit, saying that she doesn’t need any teaching. But at the same time, it was also a whole “challenge” to work with someone with such expertise.

Natalie Portman was a successful actress even before embarking on her first romantic comedy film and had worked in various films, most of which were intense and thrilling. Of Black Swan at V for Vendetta and Leon, Portman is known for playing characters who often leave a strong impression on audiences. So, No strings attached was a striking change of scenery for her. However, she was still able to captivate her co-star with her prolific caliber.
While talking to Collider about their film and his experience with the Marvel star, Ashton Kutcher talked about how brilliant but difficult it was to work alongside someone as experienced as Portman. “She may not have done romantic comedy before, but she’s done so much work on so many different levels.”

“I don’t know if there’s anything I can really teach him,” the actor of That 70s show observed how he had come to learn far more from her than to teach her something new. “I learned more from Natalie in one day of filming together than I could ever teach her in a billion years.”
Kutcher also noted that although the experience of working with the Thor the actress was one of a kind, at the same time it was also quite difficult for him.

The former model revealed there was no lack of chemistry between him and Portman during filming No strings attached, which is a factor of great value, especially when it comes to making intimate scenes because the chemistry between two people can change the trajectory of many things.

“She’s probably one of the best actresses of my generation” he noted. “I believe she is and there’s a blessing and a curse to that as an actor. Because…you know whatever you’re going to get from you is going to be real and honest and responsive and beautiful, in same time when the light shines in the dark room all the dust shows, and so it was a challenge for me to be as honest as she is.
Natalie Portman is very successful in her career and is undoubtedly good at what she does. She is the recipient of various distinctions, including the Oscar and a Golden Globe Award among many others. And his background is incredibly diverse too. So maybe there was some truth to what Kutcher said after all.
