In an interview on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Ralph Macchio talked about Cobra Kai and the factors that could affect its future. In an effort to boost viewership, the actor who plays Daniel LaRusso on the show made it clear that the spin-off has yet to be officially renewed. He also urged viewers to keep watching.
“Yeah, we, honestly, haven’t been picked up for season six yet, which we think is going to happen pretty soon. But keep watching, you know, maintain those numbers.
The newly brewed couples are one aspect the series wants to focus on, as well as the feuds that have developed, many of which have turned into friendships. This could be a hint that the series has no more groundwork to complete in terms of stories. The cliffhanger that appeared with the final episode of the fifth season has fans even more excited for what’s to come.

However, this seems to contradict why the cast are increasingly busy with various other projects, as well as the stories fading somewhat overall.
