by Christophe Nolan The Dark Knight Trilogy was said to be one of the finest portrayals of Batman in a live-action movie. The film series quickly became one of Christian Bale’s most iconic films and the actors who starred in the films quickly became fan favorites. Although the trilogy remained just a three-part storyline, Bale’s version of the hero was never forgotten, in fact, it was even said to be one of the best.
Fans of Robert Pattinson’s Batman, on the other hand, had something else to say. Since The Batman was released, Pattinson’s portrayal of the character won fans’ hearts almost as quickly as the actor was willing to admit his version might actually fail.

Fans switch from Christian Bale’s Batman to Robert Pattinson’s Batman
From 2005 to 2012, Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne remained one of the most iconic interpretations of the character. Although there were several actors who portrayed the Caped Crusader, none were as enthusiastic as Bale. Ben Affleck’s version also got a lot of love from fans, but that was nothing compared to the appreciation the trilogy got.
However, that quickly changed after Robert Pattinson pitched his version. Seeing Batman from an entirely new perspective was what fans were looking for. Bruce Wayne’s gruff voice and appearance far below that of Batman himself show that Bruce was the front rather than the other way around. His moral motives, violence, and journey from obscurity to become a beacon of light for Gotham City caught the attention of many fans as they then began to choose sides, opting for Pattinson’s Batman over for Bale.
Some fans have even gone out of their way to beat the other, social media has never been too kind a platform and on the face of it both versions of Batman haven’t been spared either. Making it clear how Christian Bale’s Batman has been forgotten as quickly as Robert Pattinson’s Batman has grown.

Fans pick sides, from Robert Pattinson to Christian Bale, Batman sparks internal feud among audiences
According to fans, Christian Bale’s Batman, although less present than Robert Pattinson’s, Bruce Wayne was much more impactful. He had a better connection to Gotham City both as Bruce and as a hooded hero. Audiences said Bale’s Batman was addicted to gadgets, and with his iconic Batmobile, he quickly became a fan favorite.
The Dark Knight Trilogy both saved DC and killed it. It was such a success that WB learned all the wrong lessons from it.
WB thought DC needed to be dark, gritty, and realistic to be successful, which led us to Zack Snyder, Man of Steel, BvS, and the current fractured state of the DCU.—Mark Stephen Ford (@MarkStephenFord) November 12, 2022
This line is so prophetic and meta because movies, especially superhero movies, were never the same after that – it changed the whole landscape. Dude won a posthumous Oscar for a superhero movie. Unfathomable before the release of this film. pic.twitter.com/HuCZfMOQ6x

I grew up with this Batman and my only criticism of these movies is Bale’s Batman. I hate the weird “deep” voice he had and he was incredibly slow in his fight scenes. I think the costume design wasn’t very good and really ruined his mobility, other than that these movies are 🔥

Each Batman movie is unique, they cannot and should not be compared to each other as they were and are told by different directors. The Nolan trilogy literally opened the doors for the heroes to be realistic. Absolutely brilliant. Now it’s almost darkness and horror. 👍

While fans also claimed that one thing that made The black Knight As famous as the trilogy is, it’s the fact that the villains are far more spread out and Heath Ledger acts as the Joker has left fans in awe. Though Pattinson’s Batman had a much better explored dynamic with each character. Christopher Nolan’s direction and storytelling made people understand Bruce Wayne as a character while Matt Reeves’ direction made fans love the Batman character more.
Christian Bale’s Batman is said to be more fundamental, setting goals for the DC Universe as to what they could achieve and how they could work on future movies as well as the character.
