We all know how much excitement there was when not only Tom Holland, but also Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield joined the MCU to take on returning Super Villains from the past. With their arrival, the multiverse tale was quickly electrified, however, this might not be the last time you’ll see the trio together.
MCU Phase 6 will contain two new Avengers films, the second of which, Avengers: Secret Wars, will give the series the best chance of bringing back the Spider-Man versions of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The first three stages of the MCU are known as The Infinity Saga, and San Diego Comic-Con in 2022 not only unveiled a new slate of planned Marvel movies, but also retrospectively titled the next three stages of the MCU as the name of The Multiverse Saga.

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will return in Avengers: Secret Wars
Spider-Man: No Coming Home is one of the MCU’s most entertaining entries, bringing together three decades of Spider-Man films and brilliantly honoring each incarnation. As the multiverse has become a major part of the MCU’s post-Infinity saga, No coming home used it for the greatest form of fan service, embracing metafiction without compromising sincerity.
No coming home provided every incarnation of Spider-Man with an opportunity to shine and reminded viewers why Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus remain two of the genre’s best adversaries in superhero pictures.
The MCU’s Multiverse Saga appears to be a very different age from the Infinity Saga. If Loki’s portrayal of the One Who Remains is any clue, Kang the Conqueror will be a considerably smarter and more violent enemy than Thanos, and he’ll endanger all realities rather than the main MCU timeline.
Secret Wars could end up being the multiverse saga equivalent to Avengers: Endgameand if the movie brings in as many characters as possible for a climactic fight against Kang, the movie would have the perfect opportunity to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew GarfieldSpider-Man variants for the Act 3 showdown.

Kang the Conqueror will be a multiverse threat, putting Raimi and Marc Webb’s Spider-Man worlds in the same peril as Tom Holland’s, and the Avengers would benefit from having three Spider-Men rather than one.
What to expect from Avengers: Secret Wars?
Kang the Conqueror will strive to rule all realities, as implied Loki’s first season conclusion, and because the Raimi and Webb Spider-Man continuities are now part of the MCU multiverse, they will no doubt take part in Kang’s attempts at conquest. Secret Wars will most likely see the Avengers ranks made up of superheroes from across the multiverse, similar to the season 1 conclusion of And if… ?
This could lead to smaller teams, like Avengers: Infinity Warwith at least three subgroups each featuring a separate version of Spider-Man, before they all combine into one End of Game– style conclusion, bringing together the three Peter Parkers.
Youtuber Heavy Spoilers, who is known for posting videos about Hollywood leaks and rumors said that Maguire and Garfield will return for Secret Wars. “They will fall in Secret Wars,” he said.
So far, the MCU has methodically planned out the development of events that lead to full-fledged on-screen crossovers and been diligent in arranging their most critical moments. After the 23-frame story arc retired from its major narrative position with Avengers: EndgameMarvel Studios is moving further and further away from the Infinity Saga.
A Secret Wars the film adaptation would require the presence of the x-men and The Fantastic Four within the MCU, which means that if Marvel Studios pursues this concept, audiences need to be given enough time to fully absorb the new characters and information before becoming familiar with an elaborate storyline.

Given where the MCU currently is, Secret Wars is too complex for casual audiences to fully participate in, and it should be positioned to unfold for years to come once Marvel fans have had time to catch up. In short, Marvel Studios has never strayed from big budget crossover events, and Secret Wars maybe next.
