Amid the turmoil between Martin Scorsese and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there seems to be a new contender. Simu Liu, known for playing Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is on the front line.
While referring to Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese as racist Hollywood gatekeepers, Simu Liu found a strong backlash for his comments.
Simu Liu vs. Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino have long been hailed as veteran directors in the Hollywood industry. The battle and the hate started when Scorsese claimed the MCU was not cinema. Salty Marvel Fans Lashed Out At Him, But Lots Of People sided The Irishman manager too.

And during the ensuing battle, Simu Liu (of SHang Chi fame) aimed directly at the director. In a tweet encompassing both Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese, the actor called them racist guardians of Hollywood. The actor in the same tweet praised Marvel Studios for trying to be as inclusive of people as possible.
If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom were Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to direct a $400 million+ movie.
I am in awe of their cinematic genius. They are transcendent authors. But they can’t point their noses at me or anyone.

People…didn’t like the tweet too much. Fans of the veteran directors slammed the actor for calling them out and calling them racist. People reminded the actor that Disney also had some upset over racial differences in its early days. People also reminded the actor that there are several Asian characters and people from diverse backgrounds in the Scorsese and Tarantino movies.
martin scorsese’s company has restored a 1970s iranian film thought lost in time but rediscovered at a flea market 30 years later. this kind of contribution to cinema is worth 100 times more than any marvel movie (and i’m a marvel fan) https://t.co/ebkWF2B1ch

By the way, Scorsese and Tarantino cast Asian actors in movies like Kundun, Kill Bill, and Silence. Your precious Disney agreed to distribute Kundun before sinking it on behalf of the Chinese government, since their attack on Tibet is depicted in the film.https://t.co/2CEmaWY7GL

no one – and I mean no one, especially Scorsese and Tarantino – has seriously suggested that they are the “guardians” of the movie. you literally made this up.
their beef with the current state of cinema is that major studios are increasingly making one type of film – glorified children’s films

I can’t help but think about how I have no idea who made Shang-Chi, a forgettable popcorn movie that no one will care about ten years from now, while the people who have played criticize a man that everyone on the planet can name ten films that he is made.

According to one of the tweets, Martin Scorsese said people didn’t go to see Shang Chi because Simu Liu was in it, but because it was a Marvel production. Following the declarations, Simu Liu had to defend himself and thus resumed the battle.

People say Tumblr is a crazy place. Well, that seems to be true when it comes to the fake movie the folks at Tumblr made under the direction of Martin Scorsese. Although the veteran director was not involved at all, the film’s fake poster did “Martin Scorsese Presents” written on. The folks at Tumblr did a full story of the movie with very identical original music too.
The fake movie, however, does not exist in real life and is just a humorous piece for people. Martin Scorsese is attached to The Moonflower Slayers as director of the film, which is scheduled for release in May 2023.
