The war between Marvel and Martin Scorsese began a few months ago when the latter claimed that Marvel was not cinema. In an old interview, Anthony Mackie, known for playing Falcon in the MCU, seems to agree!
The Marvel star agreed with Quentin Tarantino’s comments that there aren’t movie stars in Hollywood anymore, just movie characters.
When Anthony Mackie agreed with Quentin Tarantino
After Martin Scorsese said what Marvel Studios was showing was not cinema, MCU fans raced to defend their universe. Quentin Tarantino followed suit by stating that there are no more movie stars due to industry wonder.
The Inglourious Basterds director in an interview with the 2 bears, 1 cave podcast shared how he dislikes modern films and would like to return to the golden age of cinema.

“Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is…you have all these actors who rose to fame playing these characters. But they are not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a million times… but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.
The most heartbreaking part of the story is that Anthony Mackie said the same thing once in a 2018 interview. When the actor was at London Comic-Con 2018, he talked about the changing times in Hollywood and the the way actors didn’t get as much recognition as their on-screen characters.
“There are no more movie stars. For example, Anthony Mackie is not a movie star. The Falcon is a movie star. And that’s what’s weird. It was with Tom Cruise and Will Smith and Stallone and Schwarzenegger, when you went to the movies, you went to see the Stallone movie. You went to see the Schwarzenegger movie. Now go see: X-Men. So the evolution of the superhero has meant the movie star’s death.
Recently the fight was joined by Simu Liu (from Shang Chi fame) who called Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese racist guardians of Hollywood. Safe to say, people didn’t like the actor’s tone very much and gave him their response in kind. In other news, people have slammed Quentin Tarantino for overusing the N-word in his movies. Quentin Tarantino (being himself) just doesn’t care.

To make movies like Django Unchained and Pulp Fiction, the use of the N-word in Quentin Tarantino’s films has been excessive. Many people have criticized the veteran director for the shameless use of the word and the heavy violence Tarantino uses in his films. By making an appearance on Who talks to Chris Wallace, the Kill Bill director addressed the issue, and being Tarantino, he said he just didn’t care.
“You should see something else. Then see something else. If you have a problem with my movies, then these aren’t the movies to go see. Apparently, I don’t make them for you.
The director recently quoted Once upon a time… in Hollywood (2019) his best work of art to date. It has been reported that Quentin Tarantino is working on a television series which is set to debut in 2023. Although no details have been confirmed regarding the plot or release date, Tarantino’s return to television screens would surely be a breath of fresh air for the director.
