Zack Snyder’s vision of uniting the Seven could finally come true. In a Thanksgiving Day tweet, DC Studios co-head James Gunn seemingly confirmed the Green Lantern’s inclusion in the DCU. However, the happy news is just an extension of the dream that has haunted the fandom for years since 2017. Justice League.
James Gunn’s current approach to rebuilding the DC canon in a holistic sense can only mean good things for the future of the franchise, and it looks like the pieces are already starting to fall into place. It only remains to be seen how far into the new DCU’s reconstruction the Seven will be able to claim their place at the table as regulars instead of cameos or Easter eggs.

Upon his return, his audience who had been promised a masterpiece found the 2021 Snyder’s Cut doing justice to the loss of vision served in the film’s theatrical cut. However, a few aspects of Snyder’s plan were kept intact by Joss Whedon in his 2017 Justice League and one of those things was the inclusion of Green Lantern Yalan Gur in a flashback to the past war.

Discovery could take the necessary steps to ensure the reform of the DC Universe, and its appointed DC Studios head, James Gunn, is now executing the vision that was lost half a decade ago. Even as fans celebrate the legacy of Snyder and his trilogy to date, James Gunn has proven himself in the short time since his coronation ceremony. His cryptic tweet about the long-awaited coming of the Green Lanterns to the DCU is definitive proof of that.

In a tweet, James Gunn wishes his fans a Happy Thanksgiving alongside an image of DC’s superhero canon gathered together for celebration and feasting. Within minutes, his fans had plenty to be grateful for after the CEO challenged a fan’s claims that the Green Lantern was not part of the DCU family. Twitter has been exploding since Gunn’s teaser and now the world is eagerly waiting for the CEO to come out of his quiet planning phase to finally make a statement about the future of the DCU.

If the excitement surrounding the Green Lantern’s indirect confirmation is any indication, the fandom has already accepted the news as a definitive teaser of what’s to come. However, the chronology still remains very uncertain. Considering the DCU is knee deep in bringing the flash, Aquaman 2, Shazam 2and the black adam spinoff hitting screens at the moment, it doesn’t seem like a Green Lantern could fit in amidst the narratives being developed. As happy as the news is to witness a reunited Justice League on screen, it may be a little longer before the dream can finally come true.
