Whereas man of steel 2 is not yet confirmed (by James Gunn), it doesn’t mean Henry Cavill isn’t Superman yet. He may not have a contract yet, but he will continue to appear in upcoming DC movies in 2023. His black adam the cameo wasn’t set in stone until August 2022. But then, in August, scoops and reports of Henry Cavill shooting a scene for black adam hit the internet. Amazingly, this scoop also stated that Cavill shot additional scenes for the flash as well. And now, the same source claims Cavill’s Superman will appear in another DC project in 2023.
Henry Cavill in 2 DC 2023 projects
DC’s popular scooper Syl Abdul is the one who came out with the scoop of Henry Cavill’s return in black adam and the flash as well. Initially, the plans for the flash were to write Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman out of the DCU. Instead, they were going to be replaced by Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. But now that Batfleck remains and should appear in Aquaman 2, it makes sense that Henry Cavill would also be the DCU’s Superman. Hence his new scenes in the flash will permanently reinstate him as DCU’s Superman.
But, according to the latest Syl Abdul scoop that you may have seen in the video above, Henry Cavill is supposed to have 2 Superman appearances in 2023. One will obviously be in the flash, but the next one is still a mystery. Apart from the flashwe have Shazam! Fury of the gods, blue beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom coming in 2023. But picking up a project for Superman won’t be as tricky as you might think.

Why the second project could be Shazam! 2
First, we have to take the scoop with a grain of salt until it comes from an official source. But if Superman’s second cameo is supposed to happen, Shazam! Fury of the gods is the most likely option. blue beetle and Aquaman 2 don’t seem like viable projects for that. We don’t know if blue beetle will be canon at the DCU. Meanwhile, Aquaman 2 already has Batfleck to set up the future, so he doesn’t really need Superman too. So, Fury of the gods should be the second Superman project of 2023.

Superman made a headless appearance in Shazam!. And it’s been reported in the past that Shazam will be teaming up with Wonder Woman this time around. But after that, Superman and Shazam might finally come face-to-face on the big screen. This could happen in the post-credits scene where Superman meets Shazam to team up for a fight against Black Adam.
