The Batman was one of the best movies of 2022, and now its spin-off, The Penguin, is set to expand that world. Set just days after The Batman ended, Gotham is still flooded as various factions battle for control of the city. The Penguin will see the return of Colin Farrell as the titular character. That was all that was known about the HBO Max project so far. But now new details have emerged about the highly anticipated series. Let’s look at this:
Penguin Show Working Title and What It Means
Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin
The Penguin will be the centerpiece between The Batman and HBO Max’s upcoming show Arkham Asylum, also a spinoff of the film. Recently, the Illuminerdi announced that The Penguin will have the working title of “Boss”. The working title is interesting because it could allude to Oswald Cobblepot’s aspirations to become Gotham’s King of Crime. But it will not be an easy path.
After all, Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sophie Falcone (played by Cristin Milloti) will challenge his reign in an unstable and flooded Gotham. She was just released after almost 10 years in Arkham Asylum. Illuminerdi reports that it was Cobblepot who put her in the mental asylum.
So she definitely comes for revenge as well as possibly avenging her father’s death and ensuring that a Falcone continues to rule the city. It was also previously reported that she would likely take control of her father’s gang. As such, she and Cobblepot could literally go head-to-head in an effort to control Gotham.

Alberto Falcone
Joining Sofia Falcone will be her brother, Alberto Falcone, the new head of the family. Illuminerdi reports that he will be dealing with his own demons that will keep him from becoming the next Don Falcone. But that’s not all. The site also says more people will join. They say that:
“Johnny Viti, parent of the Carmine family, and consigliere Milos Grapa join Alberto and Sofia in the fight for the soul of Gotham City. These roles have not yet been cast.

Illuminerdi has learned that the show will be filmed from January 2023 to August 2023 in New York City. As such, it should be released in early 2024. A late 2023 release seems possible, but unlikely as post-production is bound to take time. However, we should get a trailer for the show by then.
Will Robert Pattinson’s Batman appear in The Penguin?

This is the big question on everyone’s mind. After all, with a possible gang war about to break out in Gotham, surely Batman will intervene? But we don’t know if the Dark Knight will appear in The Penguin.
However, this is a possibility that cannot be ruled out as his appearance might currently be kept under wraps. Or maybe we’ll just see a silhouette of the hero, like Superman’s headless cameo in DCUs Shazam.
