Arthritis, A Disease That Binds One Of Every Four Americans

Arthritis is a disease that mainly affects people at the average age of 50. It has a direct effect on the joints, making them weak and restricting movement. This can also cause pain and easier fatigue during any movement. Arthritis has affected about 50 million American adult citizens and nearly 500 thousand children.

A national health survey conducted by Kristina A. Theis, from Atlanta combined data for the years 2016-2018, and an estimated that one-fourth of the American population suffers from arthritis and the average age was 65 or older. Many other factors, such as the rapid increase of obesity, also played a hand in this problem and majorly affected the kids in their teenage.

The growth of the medical sector has largely affected the control of this disease, yet people suffer from it every year. It is because it does not have a proper cure. This disease limits the activity of the people suffering from it and causes further troubles for them in the future.

The sectors such as construction, manufacturing, etc., suffer the most as it involves physical activities, and arthritis would just make it worse.

The treatment for arthritis involves medication that helps in reducing the joint pain and minimalizing the pain caused due to the movement. Apart from medicine, another form of treatment may also include surgery and physiotherapy. These might not cure the disease completely but may help reduce the effects of joint pains on a person.

We all know prevention is better than cure. So even in this case, it is best for anyone to prevent it from ever happening. The most basic thing anyone can pull of is by changing their lifestyle. Having healthy food habits, an adequate amount of exercise every day to strengthen your bones and muscles, etc. Changing your lifestyle can have a major impact on your life and help you live a normal and healthy life.

There are many do’s and don’t’s that come in place during this condition. Firstly you should exercise to maintain your movement but also should not overexert yourself as it will result in more damage to the joints. Secondly, quit hazardous habits such as smoking as it directly affects the bones of the body, making them weaker and weaker. One should also manage his/her weight as obesity is also one of the reasons why people suffer from arthritis.

Arthritis itself cannot be cured by the given advancements of the medicines. But it can be 100% avoided and eradicated from the face of the country by living a healthy, safe, and peaceful life.
