Some ancient plants are proven to work on some diseases as antibiotic medicine instantly. Still, according to the novel study, whether it may be a Chinese herb or medicinal mushrooms, it assesses to provide the treatment benefits which are acute to the COVID-19 infection.
Do Ancient Plant Therapies Treat COVID-19?
The term “MACH-19” is used as a key role in this study which means that mushrooms and Chinese herbs for COVID-19. Among the first evaluations, particular integrative medicine approaches happened which used the western medicine standards for double-blinding, placebo-controlling, and randomizing the clinical trials.
Nature has a cure for every element that is believed by the experts who favor nature’s cure. They prefer to use various plants and their other elements that can help the body get the required element to fight the virus and its variety of variants.
According to the study collaborations of La Jolla, three trials were conducted which recruited the patients between 66 and 80 who are already tested positive for COVID-19, and some are quarantined at home and in some private places who are suffering from moderate and mild symptoms. FDA had given approval for clinical safety trials at phase 1 under the investigational compounds, which helps to treat the COVID-19 at acute stages.
Researchers say that “mushroom-based products for COVID-19” are started at some point for testing the feasibility and safety of the mushrooms with 50/50 blend within the capsule forms of agarikon, fomitopsis Officinalis, and a turkey tail scientifically known as termites Versicolor.
After some research part, “Chinese herbal formula for COVID-19” has started in this year 2021 where it is projected and concluded that it tests the feasibility and safety under the formulations of 21 Chinese herbs which are extracted from Taiwan named as “Qing Fei Pai Du Tang” this name is used very widely in China as a remedy of COVID-19.
Gordon Saxe is the lead researcher and associate author of this study; he says that “we should hope for the best on these treatments which eventually reduce the hospitalization requirement.”
Saxe adds the statement that if mushrooms were taken for clinical trials, then we should use recent evidence on whether it has antiviral and immune enhancement effects. According to the preclinical study, agarikon is identified for inhibition of viruses which includes influenza A(H5N1), herpes, and influenza A(H1N1). He states that “medicinal mushrooms might work to inhibit the virus.”
Researchers say that during the ongoing trials, mushroom-based natural products are used to enhance the immune response of the COVID-19 vaccination; it also measures the medicinal mushrooms which are taken in capsules during the initial vaccination, which eventually increases the immune response and antibodies.
After a few trials, Saxe announced his 4th trial, which is expected to provide a booster shot with a similar life of COVID-19 as an adjuvant and a substance for enhancing the immune response.
Another study investigator, named Andrew Shubov is the author of this study, states that “initial funding is required for MACH-19, where natural therapeutics are being used for many centuries for treating the infectious disease. He collected 300 recorded epidemic notes, which helps him to describe the agarikon for treating the pulmonary infections starter 2,300 years ago.”
Saxe says that “if the research team can find the demonstrated success, it might open the interest for looking into the botanical approaches and formulas.” This happens under initial safety data from the expected trials, which are carrying efficacy data. Saxe said that he is waiting for FDA approval as it gives positive signs that scientific minds are broadening.
The study concludes that many lead approaches are required to find ways under rigorous and pharmaceutical conditions.
