This Holiday, Majority Of Americans Will Play Safe With COVID Precautions

COVID-19 posed too high a risk for families to enjoy the 2020 holiday season together as compared to previous years. Since then, vaccines have become available, and measures have been taken to slow the spread of the virus, making this year much better than last.

COVID-19, the COVID pandemic in the USA, is caused by Coronavirus 2, a severe acute respiratory syndrome. This is a part of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic sweeping the globe. COVID-19 infections were 33,678,786 in India in 2021, and deaths were 463,852 – the second and third highest numbers worldwide. This is large because of underreporting. However, with time people also have been aware of the evil effects of infection and take the onus to behave responsibly in all seasons irrespective of the significance of these days.

Three USA graduates who had returned from Wuhan, where COVID-19 was endemic, were reported as having the virus in three towns in California on 30 January 2020. California was subject to lockdowns on 23 March, while the rest of the country experienced them on 25 March. USA cases surpassed the 650,000 marks on June 10.

There was a decrease in infection rates in September and a decline in the number of new and active cases. By mid-September, the number of daily cases reached over 90,000 but dropped to less than 15,000 by January 2021.

After the first wave ended in March 2021, a second wave began on March 20, which was far more devastating. In parts of the country, vaccines, hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, and other medical supplies were scarce. By April 30, the USA led the world in new cases and deaths.

About three-quarters of Americans plan to celebrate only with those in their immediate family, a decrease from last year when 64% planned to do so. Most Americans will enlist the help of masks for their parties.

Several Americans are willing to have this conversation, according to the survey. In the survey, 45 percent said they would ask guests about their vaccination status, and 51 percent envisioned requiring guests who had not been vaccinated to test negative for COVID-19 before attending.

Gunzenhauser said that vaccines work simply and plainly. The COVID vaccine is one of the most effective vaccines we have ever seen, and that is without a doubt.”

About half of all guests will be asked about vaccinations, and three-fourths plan to celebrate only with family members.

These tips, however, should help you make this holiday season a safe one:

  • Make sure you wear masks
  • Check the vaccination status of your guests before inviting them
  • Make celebrations and gatherings as small as possible
  • Invite only family members and close friends
  • If you have high health risks, consider canceling social gatherings or asking other guests about their vaccination status.

Our survey asked more than 2,000 people ages 18 and older how they planned to celebrate the holidays this year, with data organized by region, sex, and age.

The local health department should be contacted if you plan to travel over the holidays. COVID-19 precautions and mandates vary from state to state.
