US Is Yet To Witness First Omicron Variant

Today morning, The Governor has signed the executive orders to declare a state of emergency in New York and allowed the department of health to start taking all the precautionary measures to safeguard the lives of people in the state. The State of New York has seen a huge surge in the past few days and the average number of cases are 6500 per day. Around 67 percent of the entire population in New York is fully vaccinated.

The Governor has directed the state medical authorities to increase the vaccination rate fast and increase the bed capacity. Many health experts are advocating a third vaccine for the people to ensure fully vaccinated.

The US Centers for Diseases and Control Prevention has stated that the USA has still not received any single case of the latest Omicron covid 19 variant which is a good thing but the situation is very critical and the pharmaceutical companies need to fasten the process of analyzing the new variant and what best can be done for the people.

The Omicron variant has been detected by South African scientists and The World Health Organization has already named it as “variant of Concern”. This name is not an ordinary one and shows the danger level of this variant for the world.

The WHO is very concerned about the rising number of cases in the African countries and also stated banning African countries from the travel list won’t stop the entry of new variants in the USA.

The CDC has stated that we are consciously monitoring the new variant in the United States and we are expecting a quick identification of the new variant if it outbreaks in the USA.

Already during the first week of November Dr. Fauci and the CDC have warned about the increase in the new cases amongst the unvaccinated citizens in the country. The winter season is arriving as well as people will be traveling back to their homes to celebrate Christmas next month. The outdoor and indoor gatherings will surely increase the average per day cases.

Though the USA is yet to witness the first case of the new variant now people have to be very conscious and need extra precautionary measures to be followed.

Dr. Fauci said we need more data to analyze the mutant as coming to a conclusion is too early. Right now we need to focus more on increasing the vaccination rate and encourage more eligible adults to get their booster shots as soon as possible.
