The United States has already expressed concern about the rising number of Delta variant cases since July 2021. The number of daily cases is already above 90,000 and now scientists have discovered another variant of the COVID known as an Omicron variant. It’s also known as B.1.1.529.

This new strain has the potential to cause new outbreaks all over the world and has currently started to hamper South African countries. As most countries have begun to offer flight services, people have begun to travel with caution. This is a cause for concern in the United States because the holidays are approaching and the new variant Omicron has begun to spread.

Although The United States has banned travel in any form from the eight listed African countries except for the American Permanent Residents who are tested negative. 

Omicron was discovered in South Africa first, then in Botswana and Hong Kong. According to the WHO, it has some concerning properties around the world and It is completely unclear how this variant came to be and will the vaccination be effective on this variant or not. 

The good news is the current PCR successfully detects this new Covid 19 variant, Omicron. According to the CDC, even people who have been fully vaccinated can get infected again and this is a serious concern for the world.

Though there is no single cause of this newly detected variant in the USA as per health experts we never know when this variant will outbreak in the country and we need to be prepared for all the emergencies.

Previously, it was not known whether vaccinations were effective or not against the Omicron variant, but now global authorities have declared tighter borders after learning that it is vaccine-resistant.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is urging all Americans to receive the booster shots and suggesting the unvaccinated people get their initial jab as the best way to fight the virus is to protect themselves with the layer of vaccination. 

The World Health Organization said, the spike protein, the part of the virus that interacts with human cells and possesses over 30 mutations. Other mutations may aid the virus in evading our immune systems, making it more transmissible and resistant to treatment.

The variant was discovered in South Africa, increasing the number of cases from 274 to 1000 in a single day. Botswana and Hong Kong are two other possible locations for the virus’s origin. Even as per the latest data and statistics, the cases have also been reported in Israel, as a result of Malawian travelers and to Belgium by Egyptian travelers.

Travel restrictions have been imposed on South African countries by the United States, India, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

People have begun to plan for holidays and festivals, but many countries have begun to impose travel restrictions from countries where the Omicron variant has been detected.

The United States has also begun the vaccination process for children, and booster shots are now available to everyone. Because there is so little information about the new variant, Omicron, the condition may or may not cause problems for people
