The Omicron Covid 19 variant is crossing borders very fastly and has reached more countries like the United Kingdom, India, Italy but The United States of America is yet to receive its first Omicron variant case.
Joe Biden Met With Dr. Fauci To Discuss The Omicron Variant In Person
The US health agencies like CDC, FDA, NIH have issued directions to the states and their medical authorities to start planning about the newly detected Omicron variant.
On 28 November, The President showed his concern about the growth of new variant covid 19 virus in the world. He also conducted a personal meeting with Dr. Anthony Fauci, The Chief Medical Advisor to Biden’s Administration, and the Covid 19 response team members to make updates on the development by the medical agencies related to this new coronavirus variant.
As per the reports from the White House, Dr. Anthony Fauci presented the fact that this newly developed variant is completely new and due to less number of cases and research it is not easy to determine its danger level.
Also, he added that it will take approximately two to three weekends to understand this new variant to have a clear picture about its spread level, severity level, will it the vaccines be effective on this variant or not.
There are many mutations and he believes that the vaccination will be effective to fight this new variant but still, it will be very early t judge the character of the Omicron Variant. The Federal Government, The US CDC has urged all the eligible adults to receive their booster shots as soon as possible as it will offer a great level of protection against Omicron.
The booster shots are available for adults of 18 years and above age, who go vaccinated at least 6 months ago or more with Pfizer and Moderna.
The Centers for Disease and Control Preventions has suggested all the adults who are eligible for the vaccination must receive their initial jab and keep themselves protected against the Omicron Virus.
Dr. Fauci has also said that the only way to protect ourselves is to get fully vaccinated as it will reduce the chances of hospitalization and death. The President of the US also said that he will seek further information about the vaccination and development on the latest mutant on Monday.
The World Health Organization is currently working on curbing the New variant of Covid 19. The WHO also stated that till now there are no deaths which have been reported and researchers are still finding more information on the symptoms related to the Omicron.
The WHO has named this virus “Variant of Concern”. Although there are no cases of Omicron in the United States the medical experts and authorities have shown concern that if there will be an outbreak of this variant, there can be an increased in the hospitalization cases, and already the State of New York is under emergency and other states have also shown concern related to this new Covid 19 variant Omicron.
