As per certain reports, all the US medical agencies have been given a red flag about the new Covid 19 variant “Omicron” in South Africa. The number of cases on this newly detected variant is continuously increasing day by day since its outbreak on 24th November 2021.
More Time Is Needed To Understand The New Omicron variant
Many health experts around the world were betting on the fact that Covid 19 virus will diminish in some time but now the tables have turned and Covid 19 virus has taken a new turn by introducing its new variant in the African countries.
After Hong Kong, African countries and now countries like the United Kingdom, Italy have also reported cases about this new variant.
The National Institute of Health Director Francis Collins stated his concern about the Omicron variant and when being asked about the severity of this variant he said that we need more time to understand Omicron Covid 19 virus. As per his statement, Francis Collins said somewhere around after two to three weeks we will be able to gather some results and analysis about this new variant.
The best news is that this variant can be easily detected through the normal PCR test. The world is still unknown to this variant of Covid 19. Francis Collins also stated that the number of cases is less to determine the danger level and if two-dose vaccines are sufficient enough or they will be effective enough to handle such type of mutant. The answer to all the questions is still unknown.
As per the World Health Organization, the Omicron virus seems to spread much quicker than the previous version, delta. The delta variant was very deadly and now the Omicron variant might increase the hospitalization level in the World.
Dr. Anthony Fauci on Saturday stated that The USA is yet to receive its first case and also the outbreak can be identified easily and we all have to be prepared with the worse conditions. The treatment for this variant is still unknown and might be the protection provided by the vaccines to build antibodies that might get reduced or fade away.
Collins also said that this variant is different if compared with the delta variant and all the scientists around the world are currently working on the same.
The White House on Friday put a ban on the incoming flights from the South African countries and only allowed the permanent residents of the USA if tested negative.
The NIH Director presented a shocking fact that this newly detected Coronavirus variant can form a huge number of mutations to spike the protein and it will become very difficult to handle if not prevented and it will surely ask difficult questions to the existing vaccines and booster shots.
The US CDC and The FDA also suggested that the State Authorities now have to buckle up and encourage all the eligible people to receive the booster shots as it will help in enhancing the immunity system
