The global pandemic Covid 19 is causing great unrest across the world. The entire world is struggling to come back to the pre-pandemic times and stabilize the situation. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has been the introduction of several rules and policies globally. However, the US rules and vaccine mandates have always been in the limelight.
Vaccine Mandate Gets Blocked By a Federal Judge In 10 States
After the introduction of the vaccine of coronavirus, there was a lot of resistance from Americans and several groups for politicians. After much debate and awareness drives, many Americans agreed to take their dose of vaccination. According to the latest reports, only three-fifths of the US population is vaccinated against the virus.
Hence, in order to take the charge of the situation and safeguard its citizen’s administration is introducing several mandates. Recently, an announcement of one such mandate was made by the Biden administration. The mandate was a federal rule that requires 17 million workers across the US in around 76,000 health care facilities to get Covid 19 vaccinations. Along with vaccinations the rule also asked for funding for the healthcare workers from government healthcare programs.
However, the court did not support this rule and gave an order against the vaccination mandate. It claimed that it is a threat to the concept of federalism. The federal court also issued some orders to place a hold on the previous policy which stated companies with more than 100 employees must get their employees vaccinated or follow Covid norms such as wearing masks and tests.
The Biden administration in response to their orders showed their concerns saying that the only way to limit the spread and get a hold of the situation is through vaccinations. It exerted the need to get the citizens vaccinated at the earliest. It emphasized the fact that any staff unvaccinated can be a direct and indirect threat to the citizens as well as patients.
The CMS while pointing this fact issued a statement on Monday stating,” It is essential to safeguard the warriors that are working constantly for last two years to cure the patients. A vaccination mandate is a means to protect them and ensure their safety. It is critical for health care service providers to vaccinate themselves for the benefit of patients as well as the community”
Contradictorily, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt the driving force behind the opposition of the vaccine mandate does not agree to CMS. He said that these are just some unproven and false claims by the administration. The government is using its power to get control over people and overreach their power. Many leaders and officials gave their support to the blocking of vaccine mandate. They appreciated the move of the federal court and encouraged the right of citizens to make their healthcare decisions.
Moreover, many asserted that vaccine mandate and rule may seem beneficial and preventive for the long term. Every citizen must be given equal rights and authority to make their choice. Any kind of imposition is a threat to federalism.
