The Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa on 24 November 2021, and since that day The United States Government was very much curious about its evolution and started planning how to save their citizens from this new variant of Covid 19.
6 States Have Been Infected With Omicron
After the travel ban on 8 African Countries by major nations including the US, It was expected that the Omicron coronavirus variant will take some time to cross borders but in a span of just less than 10 days this new variant has traveled more than 2 dozen of the countries and the cases are increasing day by day.
South Africa, where the first case was found, has seen a sharp rise in the omicron variant of Covid 19 cases and it has been expected that the cases will increase further in some days.
In The United States, the cases are increasing since the first case was found in the state of California on 1 December. On the other hand, the delta variant covid 19 has still acquired a major portion of the cases and many health officials are considering that the delta variant cases will further increase in the upcoming days due to rising cold weather and Christmas holidays.
As per the latest reports from CDC, this new Omicron variant has made its presence in more than 6 states and the cases are increasing very fast. The Chief Medical Adviser stated that the cases are expected and he is not surprised at all but now the situation is alarming and we have to be patient and fight these circumstances bravely by following all the major Covid 19 rules.
The US Centers for Disease and Control Prevention is continuously suggesting and urging unvaccinated people to receive their shot of vaccine. As per the CDC reports, approximately 59 million American citizens, including 47 million adults are not vaccinated and it has been a major source of threat for the vaccinated people. The officials also stated that the outbreak is possible amongst the vaccinated because of unvaccinated people.
The CDC also recommended that there is no panic situation and the protection is the same, regardless of the variant. As per the studies conducted, it has been expected that the new covid 19 variant, Omicron spreads much faster than the delta variant because it carries more mutants than the latter.
After the increase in the cases in different states, the political leaders are saying “there is nothing to panic” as we are working closely with the health authorities to control the situation.
In New York City, after detecting 5 cases The Governor stated that there is no panic situation in the state, and people must follow the same rules like masking, following social distancing.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has been advocating that the major protection comes after receiving the vaccination. People must not wait for the vaccination and booster shots and get it done very soon as the omicron cases will rise and the major impact will be on the unvaccinated people.
