Pfizer Says Third Dose Of Its Vaccine Offers Protection Against Omicron
Now on 8th December 2021, Pfizer came up with the counter and announced that the third dose of their vaccine is very effective against the omicron variant and it will offer complete protection to the individuals.
Although the Federal Government has already allowed all the adults in the country to have booster shots as soon as possible.
According to the Pfizer official announcements, the laboratory trials show that the three doses of the Pfizer Covid 19 vaccine will help in neutralizing the omicron variant. The third vaccine will help in enhancing the immunity and build more antibodies by almost 25 times than the 2 doses.
After the omicron variant outbreak, the vaccine developer companies started to work on optimizing the current vaccines to fight against the new variant of Covid 19. Although many researchers are claiming that the omicron variant is not severe and carries mild symptoms.
Moderna also claimed that they are working on a new vaccine for the omicron variant of coronavirus.
Pfizer in its official announcement stated that the vaccine is sufficient enough to protect from severe disease. On the other hand, they also said that the omicron variant is different and it requires a third dose as 2 doses are not enough against this new strain.
It has been said by the medical experts in the United States that the Omicron affects the immune system and it will lead to more hospitalization if people are not vaccinated completely.
The company also issued that these results require more analysis and officials are working on collecting more data to evaluate the effectiveness and confirm that the vaccine will provide complete protection and we can move forward towards the safety of our citizens.
It is has been expected that the company will produce approximately 4 billion doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Chief Medical Adviser has stated that our scientists and medical authorities are working on understanding the exact nature of the Omicron variant. He also told President Joe Biden during a meet that the data available is not sufficient enough to enter a final conclusion.
The mutations in the new subtype of coronavirus make it more contagious and healthcare professionals believe that it is less dangerous than the delta variant. The delta strain will always be ahead of the omicron in terms of its severity
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is yet to make an official statement regarding these results.
