Ohio has been amongst the major states in the USA where the covid 19 cases and hospitalization rate is increasing at a very faster rate and raising major concerns for the medical authorities.
The Surge In Covid Cases And Hospitalization Rate In Ohio Is Raising
The latest reports and numbers from Ohio are astonishing because the Ohio Department of Health Thursday released the latest record of Covid 19 cases and hospitalization estimates. It was reported that in around 8500 Covid cases, 353 hospitalizations were recorded in Ohio in the last 24 hrs. The number of patients in the intensive care unit was 37.
Positively, zero deaths were reported. However, these numbers are alarming and a matter of concern. Many researchers are blaming the cold temperature and festive season for the surge in the cases. While hospitalization and ICU admissions are still at their peaks in Ohio, the fear of shortage has been a major risk for the hospitals and the infected patients.
Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, director of the Ohio Department of Health during his press conference on Thursday while addressing the media said, “Our medical staff and health care workers are having a real tough time. They are exerting and trying their best to provide the best treatment to the covid 19 patients.
However, the situation is very complex and we are forced to make some tough decisions during this time to cope up with the volume. Furthermore, he stated that most of the cases are from the delta variant and further continue to rise due to the winter season.
Although, during the previous winter session the cases were at their peak level due to the non-availability of the Covid 19 vaccine in the country. This time the situation will remain somewhat under control because vaccines are widely available and booster shots have also been playing a supportive role to strengthen the immunity power.
There are several factors that are responsible for the sudden surge in Covid cases in Ohio. When we look at the data, hospitalization is continuing to rise in Ohioans due to a large number of unvaccinated populations. The vaccines can prevent severe illness and hence, we urge our citizens to come forward and take their shot of vaccination at the earliest in order to have a memorable Christmas vacation with their families and loved ones.
The health department also revealed some important data about the vaccination in Ohio. It mentioned that about 59% of the population in Ohio has received at least one dose of vaccination. Whereas, 54% are completely vaccinated and we are working on various pathways to increase the vaccination rate in the State.
The highest number of Covid 19 hospitalizations and deaths were found in Cuyahoga County. The data of the Ohio health department provided some valuable insights., It stated that around 62% of Covid cases and hospitalization were majorly from the northern part of the state.
The Ohio officials emphasized the significance of Covid vaccines. Officials are of the opinion that in addition to wearing masks and sanitization citizens need to take their vaccination shots. Getting vaccinated from Covid is the key to protecting oneself from Covid. Dr. Vanderhoff also confirmed currently 95% of Covid’s 19 cases and hospitalizations are among unvaccinated citizens.
