The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Friday that the very first incident of omicron Covid in the United States was discovered in an individual who had traveled abroad and began showing mild symptoms.
According to the new virus chronology, omicron entered the United States faster than originally imagined by medical researchers. On December 1, California observed what’s been thought to have been the first recorded instance. On November 22, a foreign traveler came back to San Francisco from Southern Africa, developed symptoms shortly afterward, and contracted the disease on November 29.
Multiple Cases Of Omicron In the Southern US states
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at least one omicron case has been ascertained in multiple states, with a few of the case scenarios indicating community transmissions.
As per the CDC, out of the 43 omicra, Covid infected individuals at least one-third experienced international flights within fourteen days of initial diagnosis or positive tests. Case studies have revealed risks related to international and domestic travel, big social gatherings have given rise to the newly detected omicron in the United States.
According to the US CDC, the omicron variant has traveled more than 25 US states, and alone 20 cases have been found in New York. Also, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that one omicron-infected patient was hospitalized for 48 hours and the good news is that no deaths have been confirmed due to the new strain.
Amongst some of the cases, more than half of the patients were between the age group of 18 and 39. Also, 80 percent of the infected patients received their vaccine at least two weeks before the appearance of symptoms or positive tests. This shows the reducing effectiveness of vaccination against the omicron variant in the US and many medical agencies are pointing questions to the vaccine developers and asking them to work on the optimization of the current vaccines to make it more effective for the population.
Among the first confirmed incidents of the omicron, variant pathogen seems very to be minor, although, and like all variants, there is a disparity between virus and more extreme consequences, and signs would’ve been presumed to be relatively mild in vaccinated individuals.
According to the Department of Health and the WHO, the omicron variant tends to be spread much faster than the delta variant. Although as per the scientists and health authorities much more analytical data is required for satisfactory answers and to reach final conclusion.
The Preliminary reports of symptoms, according to White House Chief Medical Adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, are reassuring, but more information is necessary to assess the potential severity of clinical outcomes, although it is considered less severe than the delta variant. Furthermore, the delta subtype will remain the most lethal.
Twenty-five states in the United States have reported cases of the new virus, which medical experts anticipate to increase over the coming weeks, according to Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC at a White House Covid press briefing.
