The medical research institutes and governing associations are continuously advocating the need for vaccination among the citizens. As per the doctors, vaccination can act as a shield to protect the further spread of the Coronavirus and reduce its nasty and alarming effect on health care. Until the middle of the current year, the vaccination for children below 18 years of age was not approved, and after witnessing the threat, children were authorized to get vaccinated.
The US Parents Are Keen To Get Their Kids Vaccinated Due To Omicron
All the vaccines developed by different organizations are effective for all adults and thus each of them was extended for individuals less than 18 years of age. It was in May when the US FDA approved Pfizer vaccines for teenagers of 12 to 17 years of age. The FDA also gave authorization to the Pfizer vaccine for 5 to 11 year aged kids in October to safeguard them from the upcoming wave of covid 19.
The emergence of the Omicron subtype created a more drastic and panic situation amongst the health authorities in the United States, though till now 43 confirmed cases have been found.
And now as per some sources due to the expected rise in the omicron variant more parents are getting cautious and encouraging their kids to receive the vaccination.
Earlier this week, The US Food and Drug Administration allowed the use of booster shots as an emergency use for the 16-17 teenager group as they are now more prone to the new variant as the initial vaccines are losing effectiveness with the passage of time as per the WHO scientist
FDA has also authorized the emergency use of the vaccines for 12 to 15 years. The vaccine is split into two doses which are to be given three weeks apart. The second dose can be delivered up to six weeks after the first dose if needed. It has been observed that the effectiveness of the vaccine lies between 91% to 96% and thus prevents the risks of severe diseases caused due to Covid-19 infection.
Many parents are under the dilemma of whether to get their kids vaccinated or not as they fear that their children might face negative side effects and they are observing how the vaccine is behaving for the other kid. Now after the emergence of the new subtype of covid 19 in the United States, the perception of the parents might change if the cases rise up to a great extent in the upcoming weeks, which is expected by the doctors also.
The clinical trials were also conducted on the kids of age 5 to 11 years to see the effectiveness of the vaccine and the kids were monitored for two months to witness the side effects. As per the analysis of data, the intensity of side effects was mild and thus considering the massive spread of the Delta variant of the vaccines received approval.
According to the official sources, Pfizer is also working on the vaccines for younger kids of age 2 to 4 years to make the entire situation more secure for the kids.
