With the new variant, omicron, coming up, a series of experiments and analyses have also become associated with it. The initial studies which were conducted by scientists in South Africa and in the US found omicron to be very contagious and less severe than its previous delta version of covid 19.
Omicron Might Reduce The Effect Of The Delta Variant
Daily new studies are being conducted by the medical agencies and they are coming up with something exciting and now as per the new observation by the experts from South Africa, the data states that the booster shots help to prevent omicron have resulted in increased immunity power to fight against the delta variant as well. In Fact, the levels of immunity after taking booster shots increases by 25 fold as per the FDA.
The health officials are also claiming that if the omicrons happen to be less severe and lead to a lower rate of hospital admissions, then surely it is not a major threat like the delta version.
According to the reports, the delta variant is still a widespread threat and can have caused more hospital admissions in the states and is the major cause behind more than 300,000 deaths in the United States.
The delta variant which is considered to be the most lethal variant of the covid 19 can easily be beaten by an increase in the immune power that has been created after the omicron infection. Although the omicron variant has taken over the delta version, the latter one is still more dangerous for the people.
Since this information was released, the speculations around omicron leaving delta behind have increased. The vaccination will prevent delta virus infection to a maximum extent as compared to omicron and if the immune system is layered with more protection offered by the booster shot then surely people are much safer than the unvaccinated.
The United States has already started to witness a surge in the cases caused by both the delta variant and the omicron subtype in the past few days.
According to the latest data available, till now, the death tolls have not been much and many people have recovered in less time as compared to the delta as omicron is less severe and requires less time to get recovered.
Those who are fully vaccinated and have received booster shots have shown greater prevention against the virus and the hospitalization and death rates have also lowered down.
Hospitalizations have seen a spike in the United States in recent days due to enhanced omicron infection and there is an approximately more than 10 percent increase in the hospital admissions as compared to the previous week.
The medical experts are warning that the winter surge is coming and people need to be more cautious by not traveling unnecessarily and must follow all the basic protocols laid by the US CDC and Central government. The citizens are being asked to wear masks at events and other public places. Though the new strain causes mild symptoms, precautions are anyway necessary.
