The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been under the radar of many medical experts and healthcare agencies in the United States over the authorization of shortening the isolation time period for the Covid 19 infected patients.
Reducing The Isolation Time Period By The CDC Will Invite More Cases
As per the reports the CDC Has cut down the quarantine time to seven days. On Monday morning, The Director of CDC Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced new isolation guidelines which state that the isolation time has been reduced by 3 days and now the new time period will be seven days instead of ten days for the asymptomatic patients.
On the other hand, the hospital authorities have been demanding to ease down isolation guidelines for the medical staff and have suggested 7 days and further five days.
Walensky while introducing new guidelines stated that this step has become very necessary due to rising cases and it will try to maintain a proper balance. She also stated that we have little knowledge about the new variant of covid 19 omicron.
According to the sources the fully vaccinated people are at less risk than those who are yet to receive the vaccination and the booster shot has already proved to be effective and provide complete security.
The decision from the US CDC has already invited some good amount of support and has also been criticized by the healthcare officials in the USA. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Chief Medical Adviser to the Central Government is not in direct support of this decision and has called this a major concern for both patients and the health care workers.
This step of reducing the isolation time has been justified and stated that the new guidelines will reduce the amount of stress on the hospitals as the upcoming days will see a peak time of the new variant omicron in the United States.
Although the medical researchers and scientists have been quoting instances from South Africa where the cases rose tremendously and in less than a month’s time frame the wave has slowed and reduced the cases in the country by 36 percent. The experts in the United States are assuming the same situation but it depends on the size of the population.
A renowned US surgeon Jerome Adams who is one of the biggest admirers of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through his official Twitter handle stated his concern over the decision and called it a major setback for the citizens of the country.
Showing his concern over the rising number of omicron variant cases in the nation, he stated that the testing facilities are not enough to handle such cases and on top of it the irresponsible decisions from the CDC are what people are not demanding.
People need to wear masks even after competition of the Isolation as it is a mandatory guideline from the CDC. Surely this decision is not welcomed by major health scholars in the country.
