It has been analyzed that both government administration and citizens are stressed regarding the situation and are trying their best to deal with it. In quite a short time, the number of people being hospitalized has touched six digits and this is becoming a great matter of concern.

The Rise In Omicron Hospitalizations Leads To Rising Stress As Well!

As per the data available with the US Department of Health and Human Services shows the number of people being admitted increased gradually by November and exceeded much last week as well.

By the end of the last week of December, the number of hospitalizations was around 12000 per day and the death cases were revolving around 1000 per day.

Since last week, the cases are doubling and hence pushing new omicron variant infected patients to the hospital beds and there is also a huge surge of the hospital admissions amongst the pediatric covid 19 cases.

Apart from adults, the number of children being admitted has also increased since last month. The data reveals that the number tripled in major states like Maine, Illinois, Georgia, Washington, and the concern has grown for kids and it must be noted that major cases have been detected with the omicron strain and 90 percent were unvaccinated.

Also, The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have also claimed that most of the hospitalizations have taken place among the unvaccinated people as they possess high chances of getting infected because of the low immunity power, and covid 19 virus targets these people more easily. The White House administration and medical authorities in the United States are urging people to get vaccinated and eligible adults to receive the booster shots as soon as possible.

The medical experts are also stating that having at least one dose of vaccine is still much better than no dose at all. Further, the need to get fully vaccinated has to speed up at this moment as it will make people eligible for booster shots because the upcoming wave will lead to more hospitalizations. The booster dose can be taken after 5 months of being fully vaccinated.

Though initial studies conducted by the scientists and US medical researchers indicated that the omicron variant leads to milder illness as compared to the delta strain. On the other hand, despite being less severe, the omicron variant is highly contagious and spreads much faster than its previous strains. The large-scale spread of infection has put hospital efficiency at the test. A lot of difficulties are being witnessed in providing appropriate care and attention and the Biden Administration has already authorized the army and police staff to assist the medical workers with the basic work in the hospitals.
