The health care agencies and the Government have been continuously urging the entire population to receive the vaccination at the earliest. Dr. Anthony Fauci has been leading the healthcare convoy of the White House and suggesting to everyone that vaccination is the ultimate tool and strong method to stay intact and secure from the attack of the omicron variant in the country.
Citizens With Weak Immune Systems Will Start Receiving Fourth Dose
Vaccines have become an important need as it provides protection and fairly reduce the chances of getting hospitalized and death.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the daily cases of the covid 19 virus in the country have surpassed more than 1 million and within some days it might create a new record by crossing 2 million daily cases.
Currently, the seven days average cases in the United States are around 700,000 which is doubling every new week.
As per the data available with the US CDC, the vaccination rate in the country is not speeding up and the percentage of vaccinated citizens is not matching the expected rates.
The data states that the full vaccination rate in the country is approximately 64 percent and a major part of the entire population has received at least one dose of vaccination. As of now, around 36 percent of the American population is unvaccinated.
According to Dr. Fauci, unvaccinated people are the real reason behind the rising cases in the United States as these people carry the infection from one place to the other without even knowing as the symptoms of this strain are very mild.
Also as per the studies conducted and statements released by the vaccine developers, the two-dose vaccination is not offering satisfying results and the omicron strain is able to attack freely.
The efficiency and effectiveness of the vaccines are questionable as most of the people who are fully vaccinated are suffering from the infection and the initial doses are not sufficient enough to handle the level of security which is already low. The hospitalization rate and death rate are not controlled by the two doses.
Now, some medical experts in the country are demanding the fourth dose for severe patients and those who have low immunity levels must be given an extra dose of vaccine.
After the suggestions from the experts, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that extra doses for the immunocompromised people will be directly available from this week only and our agency has been directing the state medical authorities and vaccination centers to start with the process of the fourth dose of vaccination.
The eligibility criteria also include some restrictions which include, the fourth dose will only be available to those who have received the two shots of vaccine from either Pfizer or Moderna at least 28 days ago. Those who are vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson vaccine cant receive an extra dose.
It will also help in fighting against the new variants in the future.
